Ah, the *Crinton defense. *Bubba called it a 'snafu' when *he improperly requisitioned secret FBI personnel files on hundreds of Reagan and Bush Administration appointees.

I would go with that.

I don’t underestimate the power of some very expensive lawyers who are writing the narrative now.

And when they head to the slammer, just tell them they’re playing a role in an extended reality series - maybe they won’t realize that’s not the case either.

Such BS. They knew and the girls knew that they were doing something illegal.

The elitist liberal mindset in full view. Pay a school to get your kid in ahead of others. Pay a judge off (”campaign donation”) to get out of something only little people should be charged with, etc.....

IMO, she should be fined but the idea of putting her in jail for trying to scam the college admission system is a joke. The entire admission system is a joke. How do you think Bush’s and Clinton’s kids got into college? How about 90% of the sons and daughters of senators and representatives? There already is a defacto bribery system in place. What Loughlin did was grubby and crass, but the idea that she damaged some well-working system is ludicrous.

What lori and her husband don’t realize is they are white, only people of color get a free pass and can use this excuse, I didn’t know. This is the only time where people of color would swallow their arrogance and admit it so they can reap the rewards and get off scot free.

Didn't Lori accidentally pay someone to take the SAT test for her daughter too?

Ignorance is no excuse.

I know 2 instances where the criteria (high SAT score, smart enough to go from 11th to college, at the top) was definitely there, but the money and position was not.. and the person did not get into Yale. The 2nd instance, the person was hispanic without a hispanic last name, so missed out on lesser cost for college.
Elizabeth Warren used that “heritage”to gain access by lying.. is there any difference in that and the Hollywood crowd using their money.. Not that I agree, but Warren needs to be held to account also, and she won’t be..

With no one but a lawyer to write her lines, Loughlin looks foolish.

Lying and Bribery but didn’t know it was wrong...

Should have taken the plea...

Sorry Lori, but your faith in your fame and acting ability is grossly unjustified if you think you are going to cry your way out of a conviction

The old “I forgot it was against the law” defense?

You.. can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You say.. “Steve.. how can I be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes?” First.. get a million dollars. Now.. you say, ‘Steve.. what do I say to the tax man when he comes to my door and says, ‘You.. have never paid taxes’?” Two simple words. Two simple words in the English language: “I forgot!” How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don’t say “I forgot”?

Let’s say you’re on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, “I forgot armed robbery was illegal.” Let’s suppose he says back to you, “You have committed a foul crime. you have stolen hundreds and thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, ‘I forgot’?” Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!“

ignorance of the law is not an affirmative defense ... never has been ... e.g., sorry, your Honor, I didn’t know murder was against the law ...

As with just about every Deplorable here, I too never had the 500k needed to engage Mr. Singer to rig the system for my kids...but then again, I kept my kids out of public schools, so they were able to get into excellent universities based on merit.

Anyway, my point is that if you are loaded enough to have 500k laying around for stuff like this, perhaps one should spend a bit of money on having an attorney, to let you know whether what you’re doing is even legal. I have to admit, I would have assumed that doing what she did was certainly risky, and could have permanent consequences for her kids, as in never getting into another college if found out, but ILLEGAL, as in 20 to 40 years - please...no way would I have expected that level of risk...but then again, I don’t have that kind of money.

They had to know that was illegal. Paying to highlight actual attributes is okay, faking them never is.

The system is so bizarre there was a way to use it legally. If they'd paid for lessons or club fees so their children have, could and would have actually participated by actually playing the harp, being a hip hop dancer, being on the fencing or curling team or whatever, that's fine. It's part of the process to find schools that have a number of seniors graduating who have activities that your child will in fact participate in.
