Game of Thrones fans insist Arya is really a 'powerful lesbian' [tr]

Some Game of Thrones fans are incredibly disappointed after the big sex scene in the show's most recent episode — and they're convinced one of the participants was disappointed, too.

Most viewers were surprised when Arya Stark got together with Gendry in Sunday's night's episode, but it wasn't just because Arya is young and hadn't had sex before.

On Twitter, a vocal contingent of fans are insisting that Arya is a lesbian and are upset that Game of Thrones writers aren't acknowledging it.

Ser Briana? I don’t know for sure. I’ve only seen a couple of seasons. That’s making going through the comments really difficult.

"If I am not mistaken, there is not a single homosexual in the GOT books

I cannot say. I tried to read 'Fire and Ice' but the author's wording got in the way of good read, unlike JRR Tolkien's writing style he tried to imitate. IMHO

A bad book but made a good series, how odd.

Question: who was Jon Snow in love with, the woman who shot Jon Snow with a bunch of arrows, while he was on horseback?

Uhhhh what? Arya hadn’t expressed much of anything by way of sexual thoughts before. She was too busy trying to survive and then seeking revenge to be concerned about it. There was zero in the story to indicate she had any desire to munch the carpet.

Brienne has a thing for The Kingslayer. There’s no indication she’s gat either. Butch yes, but gay? Nothing to support that.

“Like his lovely but fiery sister who caught a bunch of arrows after she fell in love with Jon Snow? “

Yep. I forgot her name. Did find out a bit back that in real life she and the Jon Snow actor are married.

In her place.....I think we’d all blow our load at that moment. That had to be some extra special sweet sweet revenge for her. She not only got him, but she wiped out his entire house.

I plan on seeing the series from the beginning again before this season comes out. I've forgotten a lot of details as well.

"Brienne of Tarth is in love with Jaime Lannister.”

Unless the writers have her hit her head or fall under an evil spell, she has interests in Jamie, which according to my last viewing of GOT last season he remained a heterosexuel male.

But we all know how writers like to get "creative"

Yeah, I agree. To her credit, she didn’t enjoy being a professional assassin regardless of merit. Her refusal to do in that actress led to her “graduation” from the order of the Faceless Men.

If she wasn’t Arya how else would the hound, her and Beric Dondarrion would have know that Dondarrion was on her list?

Hound: "Is he on your list?"
Arya: "At one time, yes."

Sandor 'The Hound' would have no way of knowing if he was or wasn't on the list. 'Arya' could have simply been bullshitting him. Same for Dondarrion.

Well, it would not surprise for for Jon and Dany to die ending the whitewalker threat and for Sansa and Tyrion, who are actually still married; to re-unite and jointly rule the Seven Kingdoms.

That’s possible, but there’s that whole bloodline of the King thing, too. King Baratheon, and Cersei, thought there were no Baratheon heirs. But Gendry is a Baratheon heir. What claim would a Stark-Gendry (nee Baratheon) bastard have as an heir? Thin, but maybe not zero.

Dynastic politics is like blue-blood reparations. Everybody’s got some claim on the prize.

You are mistaken.

It has very high production values, and many excellent actors.

It is nihilistuc, hedonistic, and decadent. Martin wrote it to be so. HBO has embellished upon the homoerotic facet.

Martin is called the American Tolkien. I dispute that. I call him the American anti-Tolkien.

Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and expert on mythology. Martin is a hedonist, and more of a medieval historian.

TLotR is an epic saga of good versus evil; it is inherently meaningful and moral. ASoIaF/GoT is more a tale of evil supplanting good; it is inherently existential and amoral.

Tolkien was an academic philologist. Martin was a teevee scriptwriter. He is good in a somewhat pedestrian manner, but he is not the master of language that Tolkien was.
