Much like fashion, pet grooming is subjected to trends, with some proving more successful than others. This latest one is seeing pet owners from all over the world show off their creative side, as they transform their feline friends into dinosaurs. The 'dinocut' - or 'dragoncut' as it's also known - is a grooming style where the sides of the cat are given a buzz cut, while the fur on its back is shaved to look like the triangular plates of a stegosaurus or dragon. While the owners seem pleased by how fierce their cats look, sharing proud photos on social media, the kitties themselves look less keen on their Jurassic makeovers.

What idiot tries to shave a cat?

Someone I used to work with had a longhaired cat that got itself into a sorry state during an outdoor adventure and had to have a good deal of its fur clipped. The vet's staff was able to leave a mane and a tuft on the tip of the tail so the cat would resemble a micro-lion... which it did, to some extent.

All you animal lovers are encouraged to scrounge up a copy of Robert Repino’s “Mort/e” and give it a read. It’s a couple of years old now and your public library may have a copy. It is an apocalyptic tale of animal Sci Fi that hits a lot of the right spots.

I had to get my fluffy boy a lion cut after he got very tangled. He hated it the first day but then figured out he could get up on the narrow window sill without all that extra fluff. Then he was happy. Looked crazy cute, too!

Cat Rules:

1) The cat is not allowed in the house. At all. Ever.

2) The cat might get fed. If I feel like it. When I feel like it.

3) If that's not good enough, mice abound. The cat may catch one and eat it.

Hey city-folk! Quit dumping your unwanted cats out here!

I am very fond of my cat, and she reciprocates the affection I show her. I would not in any way make her subject to ridicule by carving up her hair.
