This video explains really well.

I think Boeing is going to take a loss on this plane big time.

Just saying. . .”Boeing built an aircraft that can’t fly without a computer compensating and/or exacerbating its design flaws”. . . and many fighters are designed to be unstable and need a computer assist (F-16 comes to mind). . .just saying and not entering this fight..

I’ve never stayed at a Holiday Inn.

Even if I did, that still doesn’t change the fact that Boeing built an aircraft that can’t fly without a computer compensating and/or exacerbating its design flaws.

The F-16 is deliberately unstable to improve maneuverability. It uses a flight control system and its ventral control surfaces to help the aircraft leverage the instability for nimble maneuverability.

The 737-800 Max was not intended to be or designed to be unstable because it is not a fighter.

The F-16 can also be safely landed without the FLCS engaged and it has been safely landed with a dead stick and the FLCS disengaged to allow the pilot to ablate the aircraft with a steeper than normal AOA.

Try doing that in a 737-800 Max.

“OK. PLEASE CITE DESIGN FLAWS.”

Here you go:

https://leehamnews.com/2018/11/14/boeings-automatic-trim-for-the-737-max-was-not-disclosed-to-the-pilots/

>>> The automatic trim we described last week has a name, MCAS, or Maneuvering Characteristics Automation System.

It’s unique to the MAX because the 737 MAX no longer has the docile pitch characteristics of the 737NG at high Angles Of Attack (AOA). This is caused by the larger engine nacelles covering the higher bypass LEAP-1B engines.

The nacelles for the MAX are larger and placed higher and further forward of the wing, Figure 1.

By placing the nacelle further forward of the wing, it could be placed higher. Combined with a higher nose landing gear, which raises the nacelle further, the same ground clearance could be achieved for the nacelle as for the 737NG.

The drawback of a larger nacelle, placed further forward, is it destabilizes the aircraft in pitch. All objects on an aircraft placed ahead of the Center of Gravity (the line in Figure 2, around which the aircraft moves in pitch) will contribute to destabilize the aircraft in pitch. <<<

The changes in design DESTABILIZED the original 737 design and they took a successful design of aircraft and accidentally made a mess of it, then they created a computer system to compensate for an expensive botch of the design, AND THEN made it all worse by trying to keep all of this a virtual secret.

Boeing screwed the pooch on this one and people have died from their mistakes and the obvious and imperfect attempt at a cover-up.

You unilaterally said a jet was designed to be unstable, meaning unstable jets are not built.

I merely pointed out that there are unstable jets deliberately designed to be so.

Of course, I defer to your experience as a pilot and flying fighters. . .

Cheers and good-bye

I did not say that. I said the 737-800 Max was unstable. I’ve also said that I have no reason to believe that this was intentional.

LOl. I bet you can’t even define ‘dead-stick landing’.

There is no way to disengage the FLCS.

Cut the crap.

I’ve piloted a twin engine King Air and a few different single engine aircraft.

Just curious, but what aircraft have you piloted?

I ask because I’m just curious why you’re so adamantly defending an aircraft that doesn’t much like pilots and instead gives preference to computers?

LOL. You don’t even have a pilot’s license.

Your flawless and deep understanding of designing jets and quoting from spotty web sources are impressive.

Whatever you say. . .you win.

Now, you can either be an adult and let this go, or, you can give in to your adolescent compelling need to get the last word and respond.

(I bet I know what you will do. . .prove me wrong)

unlike you, I have a pilot’s license and have stayed at a Hiliday Inn.
