Why are men “afraid” of commitment?
A Voice For Men ^ | April 13, 2019 | John Davis

When the media “reports” that men are “afraid” of commitment, it’s a continuation of a 50 year trend to mock and disparage men for their reproductive choices.

Men aren’t “afraid” of commitment. When men walk away from “commitment” and marriage, they are making intelligent choices. Fear doesn’t enter into men’s minds when they walk away from women in our “modern” culture.

There was once a time when marriage was an honorable institution. It was not that long ago.

As mankind rose from primitive savagery, to civilizing the world, men were able to bring art, beauty, truth and goodness to the human condition. Marriage was vital to the stability that permitted these advances in humanity.

Marriage was a balanced set of cultural traditions and values in which men and women supported each other, assumed gendered roles that encouraged them to support each other, and, provided a means for men and women to enhance their lives through the synergy of mutual care, respect, responsibility and knowledge for and about each other.

Those days are long gone.

Marriage is no longer an honorable institution. It is simply a device of the neo-Marxist state to exploit men.

Do you think that is an exaggeration?

Let’s ask some straight questions.

What benefits does marriage offer a man?

The answer is that marriage offers nothing to men. At one time, men could enjoy trusting a woman with his love and sexual feelings. Current government regulation, however, has, virtually demonized and criminalized every aspect of men’s feelings and sexuality in, and outside of marriage.

At one time, Men could count on marriages lasting a lifetime. This gave him, his wife and his children stability and the incentive to work together, as a family, for long term benefits and gains.

Now, women file 80% of divorces, within about 8 years of marriage, use the biased and oppressive family courts to strip a man of his children, his life savings, and leave him to twist in the wind without a support network of any kind. Our laws and family court judges are designed to encourage women to get a divorce, alienate the children from their Father’s protection, and, exploit men for the convenience and enrichment of the neo-marxist state . . .

Men are dying from suicide at six times the rate of women in some age categories. We know that one of the reasons is the man-hating (misandry) that saturates our institutions (law, education, military, religion, etc.), and, that the other is that a man loses everything in most marriages. To meet draconian government regulation of marriage, a man must abandon his personal support network of friends, and, when he is divorced, and impressed into the service of the state to pay child support, he no longer has the time or energy to form personal support networks of friends.

Men walk away from marriage and commitment with women out of intellect and common sense choice. “Fear” has nothing to do with it.

I’m in my second marriage. The first lasted 20 years and started when I was around 21, the second is at 21 years and going stronger than the first one EVER did. It continues to strengthen.

I like to put it this way: There are two things a man should not do before he’s 35:
1. Buy a motorcycle
2. get married.

I was looking for “unlimited sex” the first time, and got only a fraction of what I wanted/needed. The second time, I was looking for a friend, a life partner, a person I WANTED TO PLEASE. So was she.

Yes kids, they really DO live happily ever after. It’s not just a fairy tale.

Because the commitment being asked for is an entirely one-way affair. No commitment is being made to the man. Not fidelity, not lifelong partnership, not the chance to raise kids.

Very true.

As I explained to a buddy one time who was accused of not being able to committ....."it's not that you can't committ....you just can't committ to her."

The look of revelation on his face was awesome.

im really not sure what to do anymore, im 57, and my wife of 27 years gave up on me...apparently, I have been the worst husband ever and was either to stupid to follow her admonishments to shape up, or willingly hurting her....either way...im now gun shy as I get ready to move out of my home, away from family, friends, etc..

commitment??? ugh....I don’t want to hear about it...

LMAO! I always believed a man should never have a motorcycle and a wife at the same time.
Went to get a pack of smokes one day and it took me a week to get back.

Why do you have to move? It’s your house too.....might better build a room on the property for yourself and save the trouble of further losses by moving. If she wants out then let her go on her own.

Well said. My motorcycle was very obedient and every time I took her out she brought home another woman for me.

HAHAHA! You reminded me of the character in “Rock Star” that went to “take a piss”, and never went back. :)

One of the mysteries here is how who live in Sweden [probably the best example here] simply stand back and shrug their shoulders as their women are brutally raped by their ‘new arrivals’.

Why don’t they fight back? That’s been our question. From looking at some of the postings here, perhaps the answer is that the men there are SO DAMN SICK of the women running things, that they don’t mind them being ‘put in their place’, as they see it, once in a while.

Hard to come up with much else - as there doesn’t seem to be any push to stop that crap.

Hoping I am not getting off topic with my comment but one thing I’ve heard stories and rumours about is that when it comes to getting married, for a lot of young 20 and 30 something women, it is a given that the father is going to splurge that big amount on the wedding and making it that kind of a big party for their daughter. The big important thing now among the fashionable crowd is the bachelorette party and you’re now getting these girls/women heading off to Vegas or the Caribbean or Hawaii for these sorts of extravagant things.

I do not want to make some sort of generalization or judgement here, but I don’t have a good feeling about something like this when you have women like that that want to have these big lavish affairs for themselves and their girlfriends and not seem to look beyond much that point.

I am happy I met my wife in the 1980s—we have been married for 35 years. I feel sorry for my sons though. One’s 31, the other’s 27. No relationships, no prospects. Modern American women make my skin crawl.

she bought the house before we were married, I just helped pay off the mortgage once we got hitched....

we want to end this as amicable as we can, no lawyers, nothing....just cut ties...im looking at studio apartments here in Pittsburgh...

going to miss the family holidays most of all....along with not seeing my 16 year old son much as a result....

we haven’t told him yet, but im leaving that up to her, she wanted this divorce not me...so she can explain it to him, hell I don’t care if she goes over the whole list that she read to me about what a failure I was to her....

whatever

I also don’t like these huge weddings with bachelor parties and bachelorette parties - it is all about parties and drinking, nothing about commitment to marriage and family. I’ve been married going on 30 years and we had a lovely wedding with champagne and sandwiches and a cake. That was it. It was an event in our life that we took seriously. (But we did have a good time!)

I’m sorry that happened to you.

Despite men getting shafted in a divorce most of the time, it doesn’t mean women never do.

Wrong is wrong, no matter the sex of the perpetrators, and what you went thru sounds ghastly!!!
