Todays Cryptogram
LBWQG FYCAF SQZW RKAAF; VWWOAW YDWF SQZW YDAX RKFSWF. JSKDWFW TBYZWBO
.
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
WHEN I GO TO THE BEAUTY PARLOR, I ALWAYS USE THE EMERGENCY ENTRANCE. SOMETIMES I JUST GO FOR AN ESTIMATE. PHYLLIS DILLER
The semicolon is a tip-off there will be a parallel word structure before and after it.
Very difficult for me. 10 min.
13 min on and off at work. Most unusual.
Guessed the double letters correctly, guessed the S, and took a stab at the “author’s” first name. It turned out to be correct.
Good job. That give you 7 or 8 letters right out of the gate.
Various letter substitutions clued me into the first name, from which I was able to infer the last name. The rest began to fall into place after that.

I find myself, frequently getting stumped whereby I can’t even get started. If all else fails, I’ll go to the trouble of copying and pasting into Hal, and insert “E” in the space that harbors the most frequent letter.
Or, I’ll just walk away from it, then return. I find you have to leave at least an hour or more, sometimes not til the next morning.
Tomorrow’s puzzle is like that. I was stumped. Walked away, and came back and bang... I could see the repetition.
And I took a guess at the “E” and I was off like a chariot in Ben Hur.
For this puzzle, for me it was more deductive elimination than guessing the right words.

It wasn’t easy, I agree.
Four words ending in F. I always think E or S.
I’m getting nowhere with this one.
Okay, I finally got it. Pretty much took all day.
Never did get this one.
Good job....Did you use Hal?
Oh yes, I always use Hal.... that one was just really difficult for me. No way “in.”
Ok, you have a nice easy one for today...
