Yes StarshipTroopers

Written after the Robert A. Heinlin book of the same title and which I highly recommend.

Yes had member Rick Wakeman on keyboards in his standard silver cape. He was on and off with Yes, but always a good performance. Jon Anderson was the lead singer and always talked about his wife Janie who he always travelled with, until she divorced him a few years ago. And Bass guitarist Chris Squire who died in 2015 and Geddie Lee from Rush played in his place for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Steve Howe has been a long-time guitarist and often has two different guitars around his neck which he changes as necessary. A very complicated group which I have seen twice.

Once Bruford quit, it was all downhill. His percussion on the earlier Yes albums was incredible.

“Yes is my favorite band of all time!”

They’re certainly one of mine. “The Yes Album,” “Fragile” and “Close to the Edge” during their heyday.

Then came “Tales from Topographic Oceans” one of the most overwrought albums of all time.

Yes, Bruford did great work with Yes, Genesis and King Crimson.

Band may have been good, but that whiny, high pitched singer just ruined it for me. Never could stand this band.

That guitar solo at the end was Steve Howe, long- time band member. He was playing a double neck standard/bass guitar in this video. Many times he wears two guitars, a standard and a bass or whatever he needs to change between, and he just switches one to the front. It is pretty amazing to watch.

I never heard of YES Craft beer, but I would try one. My last favorite craft beer was discontinued “Tommyknockers Butt Head Bock”. Now it is Oscar Blues Old Chub.

John Anderson once served me lemon pie in his kitchen. No joke.

Steve Howe makes it look easy, and he is generous with “how to.”

I went looking for a live version of him soloing in Yes version of Simon and Garfunkel’s “America,” there are too many and I did not find the one that made such a good impression on me.

Really!! That’s a great story. I’ve met Steve Howe, but never Jon Anderson. His voice is amazing. I know some people don’t like it, but it’s real, not falsetto, and very pure. Yes would not have been the same without him.

I once traveled in entertainment circles and met a lot of celebs in that time. Most were down to earth and kind, but John Anderson was even more-so. Just a very humble, loving fellow.
