15-April-2019

The show, in the first episode, showed a US Navy Commander as a defendant. His sleeve had the following: only had two stripes (the rank of a Lt.):

For US Navy Commander, it should have been three stripes:

For a US Navy Lt. Commander, it should have been 2 and half stripes (shown below):

Lt. Col Oliver North has referred to himself as a “Telephone Col.”

NCIS is bringing back Harm & Mac sometime in May.
Bud is a captain in his last NCIS appearance.
So Harm & Mac, if they are still in the service, must be Admiral & General?
Gunna be hard to suspend disbelief.

Wow. Thanks for that. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
It will be interesting to find out what that final coin flip brought on.

The reverse is true. DOD Regulations have uniform errors built in to get their cooperation on shows and movies. Can’t disgrace a uniform if it’s technically not an accurate one. The errors are supposed to be there.

A show or movie may not have DOD cooperation, but many film so they can possibly get it later. Years ago somebody came up with a genius idea. DOD cooperation was initially not given for a show or movie but could be given later during post production. Made many productions behave themselves.

Did Harm ever have to choose between being a pilot/lawyer or a lawyer/pilot?

sometimes LCDR’s are referred to as Commander when they are serving as XO of a ship. Just as the CO is always referred to as Captain, even though he may be a LT, LCDR or CDR.

I watched with my wife.
I hate lawyer tv shows. Just know Big Oil, Pharma, The Man, Police, etc is gonna the be culprit.
And a young hot shot female lawyer wins. ‘The formula’ du jour.
This was a little more tolerable than most. Not much.

Most Naval officers never advance beyond LCDR.

“There is a movie, Red, where the characters mispronounce the name of the city Mobile, Ala.—saying it like it is Mobil. I can’t understand how the American actors didn’t know they were saying it wrong.”

Look closely at the bios of some of those “American actors” and you’ll find a lot of Aussies and some Irish & Brits. I notice many of them speak without a trace of an accent — until you catch an interview with them.

Ever hear Hugh Laurie (Lead actor in the series House) in an interview?

He has a full-on Cockney accent.

This is nothing new. The media and Hollywood can’t be bothered to understand proper unit designations or ship identification (calling a destroyer a battleship, or a bomber a fighter) so this is par for the course.

at the end of JAG? don’t remember
he was kinda mccain like when it came to flying. I think he crashed a jet that killed his REO...exonerated.

Every week a full day of JAG reruns on some old-time TV channel.
All the bit players in JAG moved over to NCIS and some became big deals - McGee for one.

That is how I always understood it.

I have also heard Lieutenant Colonel referred to as “Colonel” but since I am not Army, cannot verify that.

Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, & John Malkovich were the leads in Red. Morgan Freeman is from Memphis. You’d think he’d have heard of Mobile.

Watched a couple minutes of it. Turned it off when the female marine showed up wearing her piss cutter damn near on her right ear. Military shows need to be correct in everyway way or they just aren’t legit.

“Seems to me, the show needs some military advisers.”

The military should be able to block shows that portray personnel inaccurately.
