President Trump said Thursday that he agrees with Attorney General William Barr’s explosive, since-clarified assertion that he believes the FBI was “spying” on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
“I think what he said was absolutely true — there was absolutely spying into my campaign,” Trump told reporters inside the Oval Office before a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in. “I’ll go a step further: It was illegal spying, unprecedented spying. And something that should never be allowed to happen in our country again. And I think his answer was a very accurate one.”
On Wednesday, Barr touched off a firestorm during a hearing on Capitol Hill, saying he believes “spying did occur” in the federal investigation into the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russia while defending his review of the probe.
By the end of the hearing, though, he backed off his explosive claim.
“I think spying on a political campaign is a big deal,” Barr said during testimony before the Senate Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies subcommittee.
“Spying” is a pejorative term not normally used to describe domestic counterintelligence investigations.
“I think spying did occur,” he said. “The question was whether it was adequately predicated. And I’m not suggesting it wasn’t predicated. I need to explore that.”

Exactly, this article is a blatant lie as Barr made the “concession” pretty facetiously as well.
I’m not aware of Barr’s “backing off.”

Barr did not back off on his statement. That is just more misinformation by Yahoo and the media. You can believe nothing you read from the media. You need to see it for yourself and more often than not, what the media says is a lie.
He said he needs to investigate if the spying was legit. I don’t read that as backing off.
Exposing how the propagandists pivot, lie, obfuscate, spin, distort, confuse, etc., etc.

If backed off his claim during the meeting, why the hell were all the Dems and democrat controlled media demanding that he back off his claim after the meeting.
Barr didn’t back off. And they took the “spying” quote out of context and once again....created fake news.
Comey doesn’t think so. But let’s see if he can convince his wife that sleeping with another woman isn’t adultery.
Barr did not back off. I watched the interchange. He almost sneeringly stated that he was not sure of what all of the triggering nuances of spying might be and then said maybe he might have used the term unauthorized surveillance; which is one of the definitions of spying.
He did not back off of the spying charge; he just used a different set of words that define spying and the idiot questioning him accepted that definition of spying.
The press is saying he backed off and they are too stupid to know that he just used a different definition of the same criminal acts.
Trump owned the building he probably has the films and devices to back it up.
