Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) claims that America was founded by genocide, according to recently unearthed tweets.
We must confront that our nation was founded by genocide and we maintain global power through neocolonialism, Omar said in a 2017 tweet.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., wrote in 2017 that America was founded by genocide and our foreign policy smacks of neocolonialism. We must confront that our nation was founded by genocide and we maintain global power through neocolonialism, Omar said in a tweet linking a Time article titled Unity Will Take Generations she wrote about the August 2017 white supremacist rally Charlottesville, Va.
Omar elaborated on her comment more in the article.
We must confront that our nation was founded by the genocide of indigenous people and on the backs of slaves, that we maintain global power with the tenor of neocolonialism, she said.
Omar has drawn huge controversy in recent days and weeks. She was recently forced to defend 9/11 comments she made last month referring to the event as some people did something.

Its so obvious that she considers America inferior to Muslim states. She talks as though she is addressing an audience of true believers.
Omar once again proves what most of us already know. One can be an American in America or they can be a democrat. One cannot be both.
True :)
It’s either go on FR, watch “Scarface” or talk politics with my cat and he leans left
Huh.
Every cat I’ve ever known was profoundly Conservative.
You must have a weird one...
This is the nonsense being taught in college history classes now. This attitude should not be allowed in Congress.
If she were a robot she would have been recalled already as defective merchandise.
Typical communist agit-prop.
D’Sousa pointed out this is Obama’s view also, neo-colonialism etc...
Obama is not as coarse.
Fully a quarter of Americans believe this is true.
The 60’s really destroyed us.
Is that what they are teaching in our colleges now, that America was founded on genocide of indigenous peoples? Genocide requires systematic sanctioned extermination. American expansion was driven by primarily Western European immigrants searching for a better way of life based on their own hard work to achieve ownership using the homestead act and accepted ideas of ownership and property. Indigenous peoples had their own idea of ownership and tribal wars were common in their culture with losers banished to lesser appealing lands. So how is that any different than what was done to them? World history is rife with examples of the strong defeating the weak. Ms. Omar needs to brush up on her history and terminology.
And yet, she came here voluntarily.
For safe harbor, no less.
So, why is she still here?
I blame the college he went to.
And Islam spread through genocide also. What about that Somali b**ch?
It gets worse.
He wants reparations from dogs. Or to pay reparations to dogs. I forget.
Every country was founded by genocide
LOL!
I don’t know what I’d do, if these devious cats that I have had also gone to College :-)
America wasn’t a philosophical experiment, despite the BS attempts by neocon Trotskyites and other leftists to diminish America’s English roots.
Those English roots are why conservative godfather Russell Kirk could write a book titled “America’s British Culture”.
It’s why the members of the First Continental Congress repeatedly stressed their rights as Englishmen in their October 14, 1774 “Declaration and Resolves of the First Continental Congress” found here:

The structure of the new American Republic is the only thing that involved philosophy since the Founders were having to create one. But they looked more to history than they did to airy philosophical theorizing- to Rome and Athens and England for their inspiration- a good book on that is Bernard Bailyn’s ‘Ideological Origins of the American Revolution’
But if you want a real example countries founded on philosophical propositions rather than the Lamp Of Experience then you need look no farther than Revolutionary France and Bolshevik Russia, two shining examples of societies forced on to the Procrustean Bed of Propositions.
Wonder if any Congress critters think about that...
I know lol
Most already think they know more than us :)
Hate to break it to you - but they probably DO know more of what really matters :-)
