A Break From Serious Discussions SciFi Series That Didn't Get a Proper Chance
Why they should have had that chance? Why they failed?
My Mother The Car
There were episodes of TNG that I really enjoyed. Then there were episodes that were just a slog to get through. The episodes with Q were usually fun. I agree, the Federation of TNG was just to damned “tidy”. Deep Space 9 had a grittier feel to it, and the characters developed some real depth during the series.
...too damned “tidy”
“Travellers and Continum”
Travelers has had a season three. Did you see that ?
I miss ...
The Passage
Tru Calling
Alcatraz
Journeyman
The 4400
Blake’s 7 also had some great guest stars. Brian Blessed was in an episode, and he really got into his character, and that was a hoot to watch.
Wheaton dies a gruesome death later in “Deep Core”, but sadly as a different character. A nasty transporter accident would have befitted Wesley.
Well, those were true except for #3.
For later reference
Ping.
“That reminds me of Seven Days”
It was 7 Days that had a plane hitting the White House. All this 4 years before 9/11.
Bad spellers of the world UNTIE!
Well, that seven-season pattern was established by TNG; TOS lasted three seasons and gained its popularity via reruns.
The last TOS episode, “Turnabout Intruder”, was quite messy, where Kirk has a forced exchange of consciousness with an insane former girlfriend named Janice Lester; revisionists cite this episode as an exploration of so-called “gender identity” these days.
#44 The Tie Tunnel
I remember that show. It is where Tony and Doug are thrown back in the tunnel and emerge at the end of show with sometimes a stripe tie or a polka dot tie or a clip on tie or a bow tie.....
+ on Firefly.
Dark Matter for second.
I can see some of Blake’s 7 in Firefly. Jayne and Avon, for example, are alike in their sense of self-preservation.
I enjoyed Eureka and Warehouse 13 - sadly both ended but had some really fun episodes and they began to cross over.
Travelers could of used another season. Continuum - the writers were just out of ideas.
Warehouse 13
The Chronicle
They play reruns of that on my local affiliate of “MeTV”.
The TV movie on which it was based, “The Night Stalker”, was derived from a Jeff Rice novel (unpublished at the time) titled “The Kolchak Papers”.
