“I shall be an autocrat: that’s my job. And the good Lord will forgive me: that’s his.” - Catherine the Great
Blast!
You beat me to it!
She is on this comedy show called Documentary Now,
a parody of public television documentary series.
She does these deadpan openings that are absolutely brilliant. For about a minute you are convinced that you’re watching an ACTUAL documentary on PBS.
A great actress.
Truly outstanding.
DM did a good job with this article. I’m really glad they included an accurate portrait of Catherine, who’s about 40 pounds heavier than Helen Miren and doesn’t look at all like her. OTOH Miren and her makeup artists did a fantastic job making her look a lot like both Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II.
This is Dame Helen Mirren in her mid 60s ...I mean lord what genes..
C28 Larry
Genes and Ab Crunches.
Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of ab crunches.
She earned the hot figure.
When she was young, she looked like a “Hot” 20 years older than she was, woman, and stayed that way, until staying that way, started making her look younger than she was...
Um, I think I see.....
Naughty, naughty!
>I liked her in RED
RED was great and she was fantastic in the flick.
IIRC she was the first “celebrity” in the world to be inoculated against small pox. After she was injected it became a fad for the wealthy to follow suit and that trickled down to the lower classes.
I have read that Washington’s best war strategy waswhen he had the army inoculated because the brits were notorious for giving away blankets with the pox on them.
Her submission to the needle lead to a revolution in medical care and prevention and the way we look at infection and diseases.
She is of Russian descent...
She is a very proud lesbian.
I love Hellen, but she’s way too thin for the part.
Just look at any portraits painted of her at this time in CTG’s career/reign: she was much more “Rubenesque”. Let’s just say, she wasn’t a svelte Hollywood star: she had some “meat on her bones”.
