Gillette is making waves with a photo it tweeted of an obese woman posing on a beach in a bikini, with her curves and cellulite on full display.
The razor maker last week posted the image of Anna O'Brien, a plus-size fashion, fitness and lifestyle blogger, under its @GilletteVenus handle, captioning it, "Go out there and slay the day." Some Twitter users said the ad glamorizies obesity and that Gillette is "irresponsibly" promoting an unhealthy lifestyle for profit.
"This woman will die of heat disease before @potus completes his second term. I hope she's just as happy and carefree for her last 6 years of life. Everybody should live themselves, but lets not call it healthy," one twitter user wrote.
Some commenters defended O'Brien while keeping their aim focused on Gillette. "There's no reason to be rude or unkind to someone who is obese and there is no reason @GilletteVenus should be encouraging life threatening obesity. This would also be true if they used an anorexic model. I wish the model they used well but Gillette should know better," @robbystarbuck said.

“Including going out in public and trying to have a good time.”
A person does not have a God-given right to flaunt nudity in public places. Some people cannot help their obesity, but they can certainly hide it from public view. Common decency requires it.
If for some perverse reason they are driven to display their hideousness, let them congregate with others like themselves.
I don’t remember reading anything about a nude beach, laf
I thought nude beaches included all kinds of looking people. Lots of ones that don’t look like porno stars.
“I thought nude beaches included all kinds of looking people.”
Don’t try to slide around on technicalities. She’s showing way too much skin, and reaches a significant level of nudity.
While some people think if you are over a certain size you need to put away, one way or another. Some of us see past a person’s outside appearance.
I'd have to trade in my Jeep for a pick up truck if I wanted to take her anywhere........
what are y’all talkin about?? fat chicks are like Mopeds!! Fun to ride on just dont let your friends see you on em!! Not!! “Turtle Head Syndrome!!”
How does she even trim her toe nails......
“Some of us see past a persons outside appearance.”
When a person is galumphing about with practically no clothing, for the specific purpose of attracting attention to the uncovered skin, seeing past their outside appearance is as stupid as it is futile.
I thank God I live in a Country where we are able to go places, like the beach. Without covering every inch of skin, hair, etc.
“I thank God”
I’d recommend you look into what God has told us about modesty.
Wearing a bathing suit on the beach. In the water too. Same thing everyone else there is doing. Wearing same type of outfit. She is just enjoy being alive and getting a little exercise and fresh air.
As far as modesty, she isn’t showing anything everyone else isn’t showing.
Not long ago there were reports of women in Australia being attacked by certain religious groups policing modesty. I remember even statues were covered up in Europe from same types of those modesty police. We should fight against anything like that. Besides,
It was Satan who gave us shame.
She is not enjoying a moment of life.
Im not an elitist.
Shes not active.
She is not getting exercise nor is she having fun.
Exercise does not make obesity healthy.
Yes, walking. swimming, etc. Is exercise. And as hard as it is for many to understand, regardless of size, age, looks, medical conditions, or physical abilities, a person can enjoy themselves every so often. Especially when people aren’t being monsters to them.
as hard as it is for many to understand
Its easy for me to understand. Enjoy!
Just dont BS. And stay on your side of the arm rest.
“It was Satan who gave us shame.”
Ummmm...no. Where did you get that?
It was Satan who talked Eve into doing something shameful, and Eve who talked Adam into it.
They felt shame before God because they had acted wrongly.
Shame is a natural response to self-awareness of sin.
They were not ashamed of their bodies until they encountered Satan. And sin. Their bodies were not shameful. It was disobeying God that was shameful. When God made man and woman, he saw it as good. Not bodies to be ashamed of.
Funny how many of the same people post pictures of mostly nude women here on FR, talking about “hitting it” or “not guilty”, thinks everyone that doesn’t turn them on should be harrassed, or worse.
I havent noticed that. Nor do I post pics of mostly nude women so your comment is n/a as far as Im concerned.
How do you know those who thnk people who dont turn them on should be harassed or worse? Thats a bizarre conclusion, IMO. Also, what do you mean by worse?
