Gillette is making waves with a photo it tweeted of an obese woman posing on a beach in a bikini, with her curves and cellulite on full display.
The razor maker last week posted the image of Anna O'Brien, a plus-size fashion, fitness and lifestyle blogger, under its @GilletteVenus handle, captioning it, "Go out there and slay the day." Some Twitter users said the ad glamorizies obesity and that Gillette is "irresponsibly" promoting an unhealthy lifestyle for profit.
"This woman will die of heat disease before @potus completes his second term. I hope she's just as happy and carefree for her last 6 years of life. Everybody should live themselves, but lets not call it healthy," one twitter user wrote.
Some commenters defended O'Brien while keeping their aim focused on Gillette. "There's no reason to be rude or unkind to someone who is obese and there is no reason @GilletteVenus should be encouraging life threatening obesity. This would also be true if they used an anorexic model. I wish the model they used well but Gillette should know better," @robbystarbuck said.

I don’t buy it. If the cost of health care is the concern, that would be the same argument for all lifestyle ‘risks’. From sexual partners to owning a car. Lots of sports related costs, old people and disabled. And besides, Lots of medical conditions and medications cause weight gain too. Public humiliation of fat people trying to be active contributes greatly to the their weight problems.
The people who see a fat person and start spouting health cpmcers or costs surely are only doing that to feel superior. A lot of fat people work. pay taxes, and health care costs. And a lot of slim people sleeping around, or doing drugs, doing extreme sports, don’t. Your health care costs are higher due to Government bureaucracy and over loading the freebie gravy train of medical care.

From a lot of comments, some here would cheer the government SS lock up all the fat people, a real concentration camp for fattys. For the good of society, don’t you know.

I must agree with TH, AIDS is still more expensive to treat than obesity.
Plus some cases of obesity is caused by medications not just simple overeating.

You talk as if only fat people get criticized. Everyone gets criticized. Slim people sleeping around definitely get criticized. People who undertake risky sports and hobbies get criticized. People having too many kids get criticized. Smokers were practically hunted for sport. Being morbidly obese is like sky-diving with a parachute that was packed by people who don’t like you. Trying to convince us that it is the one and only behavior that should not be criticized is really unlikely to be successful.
So if AIDS is more expensive, let’s not speak a WORD about obesity. That makes perfect sense. It’s like... murder is worse than rape, so let’s legalize rape. I mean, really, same logic.
We can’t speak about how much AIDS is and well all know why!!

I never said fat people are the only ones society feels justified in humiliating and lashing out at. I was hoping to get across they have a God given right to exist and live in peace. Including going out in public and trying to have a good time.
Seeing a fat person as one of God’s children doesn’t make someone a Democrat. Just the opposite really.
As one who hasn’t had a girl in a LONG time, I’d rather stick it in a toaster.
