A Second Bomb Cyclone: Colorado Predicted To Go From 80 Degrees To A Blizzard
NPR ^ | April 9, 2019 | Bill Chappell

A weather whiplash is predicted to hit people in the Rockies and Plains this week, as conditions go from balmy to blizzard overnight. The high is predicted to be around 80 degrees in Denver and other cities Tuesday — but within 24 hours, blizzard conditions are forecast, the National Weather Service says.

"Warm today. Snow tomorrow," says the NWS office in Denver and Boulder, Colo., predicting temperatures that could hit record highs Tuesday — followed by rain turning to snow, in a blast of cold air that will ride winds of 40-60 mph on Wednesday.

For many central U.S. residents, the week began with warnings of a possible winter storm. But predictions now call for an April blizzard that could bring whiteout conditions. And because of the intense drop in pressure, the system could develop into the region's second bomb cyclone in less than a month.

Must be a new “climate change related fad”....having names for regular winter/spring storms and using fancy new buzz words like “bomb cyclone”. “Spring storm” will suffice I think.

It snows on Colorado through at least June. Then it picks up again in July

I was born and raised in Colorado. This is indeed typical spring weather

Yes, what is with all these new terms? They’ve come up with several new terms just in the last couple years. Never mind the last 20. I’d never, ever heard of “el nino” and “la nina” before that. (Even then I partly suspected it was to get us Americans used to the Spanish-speaking illegals the same libs would be majorly accommodating in the next years.)

Sounds like very typical spring weather in Colorado based on my 64 years of life here. FWIW 64 years is about 40% of the “recorded history” of weather and temperature here.

I think that gives me a reasonably informed understanding of CO’s “recorded history” of the climate.

Snowpocalypse must’ve gotten thumbs downed.

How about A-Bomb Cyclone?

This may be the one we noticed last night, called “WESLEY”.

I said to DH these storms can’t really be that bad/unusual like the hurricanes they wish to emulate if they’re already running out of the alphabet by the end of the season.

I assume they did field test it. Since there is not a bomb nor a cyclone involved, it has to be marketers at work. And a complicit whorehouse media spreading the joy.

I live in plain old boring new york and i’ve seen 40 degree changes between 2 day.

Granted it’s not like this one, but New York isn’t known for extremes in weather so if we can get a 40 degree difference in a day, i would imagine places like Denver can experience much more.

This has happened since I was a kid in the ‘70s.

It’s not new

I think he was exaggerating a little bit. Although it depends on the elevation one lives at. I recall a blizzard in July at the family cabin near Allenspark in the ‘70s and snow blowing horizontally during the Estes Park 4th of July fireworks show in the 80s.

I also recall getting nearly 2’ of snow on May 19, 2017.

15 years? That's nothing...

Last Ice Age took just SIX months to arrive

By Daily Mail Reporter Climate catastrophe: Rapid climate change was the subject of the Hollywood blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow Climate catastrophe: Rapid climate change was the subject of the Hollywood blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow It took just six months for a warm and sunny Europe to be engulfed in ice, according to new research.

Previous studies have suggested the arrival of the last Ice Age nearly 13,000 years ago took about a decade - but now scientists believe the process was up to 20 times as fast.

...the Northern Hemisphere was frozen by a sudden slowdown of the Gulf Stream, which allowed ice to spread hundreds of miles southwards from the Arctic.

Geological sciences professor William Patterson, who led the research, said: 'It would have been very sudden for those alive at the time. It would be the equivalent of taking Britain and moving it to the Arctic over the space of a few months.'

Maybe this bomb cyclone is really the next ice age kicking off!

It can snow at altitude any time of year

Snow season ain’t over until after the first week in June

The comment I made was a joke. I was born and raised in Colorado. It was a standing joke

You are correct. At elevation snow can occur anytime

We are expecting two feet of “climate change” tomorrow in the Black Hills, 50 mph winds. I do believe that is called a BLIZZARD.

My “no” was a joke.

But I should agree with you.
It snows biggie snow all year round. ;) Maybe so many assholes would stop coming here if they thought that...I know, no such luck.

LOL

Why is that so shocking!

It’s only april 9.

We have 40 degree weather here this week.

It’s not a STRETCH for Denver!!

That being said, be safe.
