A weather whiplash is predicted to hit people in the Rockies and Plains this week, as conditions go from balmy to blizzard overnight. The high is predicted to be around 80 degrees in Denver and other cities Tuesday but within 24 hours, blizzard conditions are forecast, the National Weather Service says.
"Warm today. Snow tomorrow," says the NWS office in Denver and Boulder, Colo., predicting temperatures that could hit record highs Tuesday followed by rain turning to snow, in a blast of cold air that will ride winds of 40-60 mph on Wednesday.
For many central U.S. residents, the week began with warnings of a possible winter storm. But predictions now call for an April blizzard that could bring whiteout conditions. And because of the intense drop in pressure, the system could develop into the region's second bomb cyclone in less than a month.

How about some of that “global warming” for Denver?
Ive lived in Denver since 1978. This is a typical spring pattern here; unusually warm one day and snowstorm the next. Only thing new here is calling it a bomb cyclone every time it snows to scare the global warming followers.
Because the earth is getting warmer, no doubt. Some government ‘scientist’ with a PhD in something will find a way to spin it in Democrats’ favor for the money.
I wonder if they focus grouped their new scary weather term of bomb cyclone before releasing it to the public.
On Easter about 10 years ago it snowed. In Tidwater Virginia. It looked wonderful.
No big deal considering we went from a full on Ice Age in the 1970’s to out of control global warming just 15 years later
No problems for all of us with “white male privilege”!
“Women & Children and People of Color(tm) hit hardest!”
Which is worse?
The “bomb cyclone” or the “Polar Vortex”?
Yeap, this just happened in 2015. We had two fairly close “blizzards.” One of them dumped a couple of feet up here. The other one dumped a bunch of rain on me, but snow elsewhere.
We never left the Quaternary - an age of cyclic transcontinental glaciations. we’ve had a nice warming lull (one of many!) for the last 20 thousand years or so (with a little cooling roughly 1400 to 1850 - “Little Ice Age”). Let’s hope this next climate trend isn’t too bad
Ping!
I was just going to say, lived there for a long time, those spring storms with rapid temp changes are normal. And when they get down to Texas, they call them Blue Northers.
More like HAARP weather modification.
What do they call it if you're at the airport? Or do they whisper it?
Too hot, it’s the climate.
Too cold, it’s the weather.
Punishment from God.
I recall an Easter with egg hunt with ice on the daffodils several years back... here in Arkansas.
Yeah, just happened today in north Eastern California, 82 yesterday to cold, wind and snow today.
Has the “Cli-Fi” channel named it yet? Early spring cyclone ‘Herminee’?
