A baseball field in Connecticut is in shambles after 25 gallons of gas were dumped on a wet infield and set on fire in order to dry it out.
The hope to dry out the infield before a Saturday Ridgefield High School baseball game resulted in flames shooting 15 feet into the air and an estimated $50,000 worth of damage.
Tarps now dot the field at Governor Park since Ridgefield was subsequently forced to hire a spill crew to spend most of Saturday and all of Sunday removing the contaminated soil.
It appears that about 15 to 20 parents took turns dumping the 25 gallons of gas on the field while more than a 100 people stood around and watched.

...and these ‘parents’ are going to be voting in the next Presidential election. They probably love the Democrat Klown Kar.
This did have the feeling of the famous Exploding Whale
It seemed like a good idea until chunks of rotting, stinking blubber the size of men began raining down on them!
Can’t believe it wasn’t Florida.
hold my beer
Our warm-up in the outfield consisted of seeing who could “accidentally” over throw a ball so it would catch fire.
Then we played our double header.
And you wonder why we cant have nice things????
And a coach did the same thing in Utah, I am wondering if this was put in a “Life Hack” video on social media or what?
I hope they at least had enough brain cells to get the kids of the field before they lit it up.

Jerks. Gasoline is a defoliant. (See tagline)
Yup, probably will cost millions to clean up.
.
Prolly like trying to convince a thousand meskins its a bad idea to carry 5 gallon buckets of gas away from the pipe leak where gas is pooling on the ground and your shoes and pants are soaked with gas/mud and, um, hey can I bum a light???
High School parent: “Hold my beer.”
Other High School parent “ No, here. You hold my beer.”
A hundred and twenty “adults” and not one smart enough to ask “Is everyone here sure this will work?”
Sad that they didn't have enough fans.
This happened in Connecticut? No way. Maryland, surely. Or at least Minnesota.
And these people get to vote.....
Apparently it has been a "thing" in various places in the past.
Fast-forward to now - if the state enviro-nannies find out about ANY kind of petroleum product "spill", you're done.
They have to justify their existence, with your checkbook...
The fact that these Blue State buffoons didn't know that little reality is hilarious.
