I'm referring to the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act of 2009. Been doing some searches on the web and it appears to be legit.
Anyway, got a letter the other day that was labeled my Certified Benefits Statement which says I'm eligible for a 65% reduction of my past due debt. Says my benefits must be redeemed by midnight, April 2th.
Anyone familiar with this law?
April 2th? Twoth? With grammar like that I would not do business with them.
srsly? youre actually eligible for a 100% reduction in your debt.
You missed the 04-02-19 deadline.
How much money did they want you to send?
Sounds like a scam. If it is too good to be true, then.....
Perhaps you meant April 12th?
Best advice would be to contact whomever sent this mailing to you. Get more info. Make sure it is legit.
If it is NOT from your credit card company then it is likely a mailing from some blood sucking law firm looking to prey on people with moderate to heavy credit card debt. They may be able to do what they say...for a fee of course. Tread carefully and get more info.
Credit card consolidation scam it sounds like.
Be careful. If it is, they destroy your credit.
April 12th.....sorry!
Two possibilities, as cynical me sees it.
1. It’s an identity theft attempt. Is there a phone number? If you call, I’ll bet they’ll ask you to “verify” your credit card number. Then you’re off to identity theft city.
2. It’s a cleverly disguised sales pitch. Send us $$$ and we’ll lower your credit card debt.

1. Cut your credit card in half.
2. Pay off the balance as soon as possible.
3. Live debt free - nothing like it but it takes sacrifice to get there.
Sounds like a scam.
Legitimate plans do not require a deadline. This sounds highly suspicious to me.
Since its April 4nd today I think weve missed it.
My money says scam, but just to be sure, contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and see what they say.
The law is real. But it’s from 2009. So if a credit card company has been doing folks wrong, why would it take 10 years for anyone to catch on?
The only way that I can see where this is not a scam would be if it’s a class-action lawsuit. Was a law firm mentioned here?
a simple google search would have told you everything you needed to know:

Scam.
Dude, it IS a scam. S-C-A-M! Dont be a sucker....please.
