ANAHEIM, Calif. - Surveillance cameras captured a mans rant at employees over a taco special at a Mexican restaurant.
KNSD reported that a customer thought a sign outside Palapas Tacos in Anaheim, California, said fish tacos were $1.99 daily. He missed the words at the top of the banner that read, Especial de Viernes. The words mean Friday special in English.
Multiple signs list daily specials, which are advertised with the day of the week in Spanish.
Palapas Tacos owner Juan Del Rio said the man was upset because he was charged full price for the fish tacos. He ordered them on Monday.
He saw the receipt and he saw that it was full price, Del Rio told KNSD. Thats why he gets mad.
KTLA reported that the unidentified customer berated the cashier and yelled at other waiting customers.
Thats (expletive)! It says it in Mexican. Were not in Mexico, were in America, the man says, according to surveillance video. This is America! Not Spanish!

No, your signs are no good.
Friday = Viernes.
Not everyone is going to know that.
I’ll get flamed, but I though it was rude. Good manners can solve a lot of misunderstandings.
From the article:
“KCAL reported that signs listing the specials inside the restaurant are clearly visible and in English and Spanish. So what? Its in America. Its above the border — the border? The waterline, the customer said, turning to the two people in line behind him and back to the employees to add, Im an American. I dont use Spanish.
As Woodrow Call would say,

Bottom feeding, dirty african trash fish that tilapia.
Especial de Viernes”......................probably thought it said Green Special..................
The embarrassing idiot is the one who puts up their sign in a foreign babble and then won’t go ahead and make it right when the inevitable happens and an American doesn’t understand.
The morons could have apologized, and given him a taco for free. They woulda had a customer for life. Instead they demand everyone learn Mexican.
Like ZZ-Tops Tres Hombres album...GOOD!!
I ate there many times....great food.
Now this situation....I'd be pissed too..if I couldn't read Spanish.
That would be... Captain Woodrow F. Call.
Fish tacos are a Baja California specialty and are made with a flour tortilla, mild fish, shredded cabbage, dressing and lime.
Wonderful!
Tilapia, not as tasty as salmon but a lot cheaper.
Yes, Sir. That would be him.
The guy was stupid and rude, but that doesn't take away from their sign not being clear enough. Make the sign more clear.
Pay in pesos.
It reminds me of movie Falling Down. That was a good indicator of where our country was headed and that was 1993.
I like how you think!!
Ive done genealogy for decades, for myself, my family and others. Its been extremely beneficial when I come upon various Census years when those questions were required, even going so far as to require what language was spoken in the home by the adult parents, etc.
It has pleased everyone when they found out where their ancestors countries of origin and even if they spoke another language besides English!
We are able to research the ports where their ancestors landed and can further research ships for their records.
Better yet, requiring people to admit whether they are legal or are illegal aliens and thus we will have a clue as to misuse of tax dollars and how many House of Representatives are necessary, as the only legal way to figure how many are needed, we support House members based on citizenship not illegal aliens!
Ive had them with blackened salmon.
I love fish tacos, they are far better than beef or chicken in my opinion.
If the owner is going to advertise the Friday Special only in Spanish, he should list the price as 38.24 - which would be its cost in Pesos.
I don’t see a problem with that. The guy should have read it where it was posted in English, though.
Hasn’t the State Authorities shut him down yet for False Advertising and Fraud for not posting their ads in English
He could have handled it better. The owner could have handled it better as well.
I’m not so sure the customer would have saved much money had they given him the discounted price. The only pricing I see on the Internet for tacos is $2.50. That might not be a current price, or it might not be for fish tacos. I don’t know for sure.
