I was going for Purdue against Virginia because I love that adorable kid Carsen Edwards, but now I’m going for Tech.

If only Tyler Trent could have made it to Purdue's tournament run. I still choke up when I think of that moment he appeared during the Ohio State game during the football season.

It’s been a tournament of almost no real upsets and a lot of overtime games.

Going strictly by the seeding the teams seeded 1,2,3,& 4 would be in the sweet 16. Fourteen of those were in the Sweet 16 and Auburn was a 5-seed. Oregon (#12) and UC Irvine (#13) pulled upsets in the opening round and then got to play one another so one of them was guaranteed to be in the Sweet 16.

Traditionally, SEC teams other than UK collapse once they get very far, so I would expect Auburn to fold against Virginia. Maybe the same for TTU, although I’ll be rooting for them. I’m hoping for an Auburn-TTU final but I actually expect a Virginia-Michigan State final.

Remaining are teams seeded 1,2,3, and 5 so there’s no coin flipping to decide which color uniforms to wear.

Although I hope Tech wins, my crystal ball has Virginia beating Michigan State in the final.

UVa has trouble with big fast athletic teams, which Auburn certainly is. Of course if the Hoos shoot 70% from the arc (as they did in the second half Saturday), no one is going to beat them.

Let’s see, UK has over twice as many national basketball championships (8) than the rest of the SEC combined. Let’s see, Florida, Florida, Arkansas. Well, LSU self-claims one but that was before they even had a tournament (1935).

Football? Well, UK sucks in football, though they had a good year last season. It was their first winning season in the league since 1977.
