I started using Bing over Google as I was sick and tired of Google working with China's military, but not working with ours. They ban gun videos on Youtube. They help authoritarian countries institute censorship in search results. All the while we use them and they make money off of us. Google is Evil.
Bing rewards you for your searches no different than the credit card companies do with their rewards. Using Google with no rewards is akin to using a credit card with no rewards. And Microsoft actually is a patriotic company and does not kow tow to the leftist communist programmers. I got a $5 Amazon gift card after only a few weeks of using Bing.
Make the switch. I am glad I did.
You’re making the better of the two choices, and yeah, I’m a dreamer. Let me dream. But no, giving away something of value for a service is not necessarily “free”. It can be like selling Manhattan for $24 worth of “free” beads. A rip-off.
In the meanwhile, I use Startpage and Duck Duck Go. And sometimes Bing.
If you think Google is a legitimate search engine, see post 18.
I have used Ixquix-Startpage for a long time.
Am amazed that people on a supposedly Conservative site cannot even agree that Google is Evil.
I agree...”duckduckgo.com” is awesome.
Yeah. Well, Satya and the H1B brigades are not above sordid commercialism when it means more gringo cash to them.
But uh, other then enjoying the fact that Redmond now looks like Mumbai, there’s nothing patriotic about that gang of sleazes. They’re just here because ISRO can’t pay anywhere near as much.
I quit Bing for all their snooping a couple years ago. I see now they’re snooping even more with you. Not just with your searches but what you buy with that not so free gift card.
I never heard of a card when I used to be on it. Quit because they were too snoopy.
“cannot even agree that Google is Evil”
I agree completely! And every morning of my life I have to fight my way through the traffic they brought to 101!!
Stop giving those foreigners money!! Get them out of our formerly peaceful South Bay!!
I tried duckduckgo but they were never up to date. Never could find anything that happened in the world 3 weeks prior.
LOL!
You can use Bing for general searches but other search engines for those things you want to be private.
Is EVERYTHING you search for a secret?
Microsoft rewards you must register
Duckduckgo also does not offer keyword suggestions which can sometimes prove helpful. They also have ads......could go on and on.
So if most of my searches are for company information for stock investing, how will they be using this “against me”?
Microsoft is a SJW company supporting an innumerable amount of left wing causes so I'm also not sure where you get the idea that they are a “patriotic company.”
Could you please elaborate.
When using DDG, if you type !G in the search field before your search term. It will use Google’s search engine but do so anonymously.
Startpage/ixquick also does the same thing.
But I have found DDG results very good without having them proxy Google’s search engine.
to each, his own
And support the Washington post!
I haven’t googled in a very long time. I use both Bing and DuckDuckGo. I think I’m using DDG on my iPhone, as well. It works well.
