I tried duckduckgo but they were never up to date. Never could find anything that happened in the world 3 weeks prior.

Duckduckgo also does not offer keyword suggestions which can sometimes prove helpful. They also have ads......could go on and on.

When using DDG, if you type !G in the search field before your search term. It will use Google’s search engine but do so anonymously.

Startpage/ixquick also does the same thing.

But I have found DDG results very good without having them proxy Google’s search engine.

Because they throw all their sponsors ad links in first, you have to dig WAY back to finally get to what you are looking for. I have been using Qwant the last few days to test it out and I like the search results so far, very comprehensive and don’t seem to be manipulated, and they claim to not track.

But it all depends on who owns it... Still chasing that down.
