Iraida Vargas can no longer afford the two kinds of insulin her aging mother needs and has stopped buying fresh fruit and vegetables as billions of dollars in federal funds that help Puerto Ricans buy food, get medical treatment and recover from Hurricane Maria dwindle despite pleas from the US territory that Congress take action.

PR is nothing but a big fat money pit for U.S. taxpayer money. If the Hispanic U.S. lawmakers want to personally help them out of their own bank accounts, fine. I have far better things to do with my money than pay for people who have habitually let others take care of them.
In Mississippi I got no tax money.
Good grief, its been a year.
Is that right... given...

My full-time home is in Mexico Beach, FL. It was almost destroyed along with the entire town and area. Little is left standing. Everyday, I am working to rebuild along with friends and neighbors with no whining as we see daily from PR. You want to see tragedy? Then look no further than the eastern FL panhandle yet the media is awol with few exceptions. I have no compassion or sympathy for the people of PR because it seems to me they expect the Feds to do everything for them.
sPAIN NEEDS TO FUND THE RESULTING PROBLEMS FROM THEIR PAST GOVERNANCE.
Reparations from Spain should fix it all.
Jeez...the tragedy of low expectations taking root there. Gib me, Gib me, Gib me.
"F" PR. The liberals ran the country into the ground, and now they come running to the US for a bail out? Where the majority of tax receipts come from conservatives? again, FU PR.
I’m SO tired of feeding the world. I go to work every day so that someone somewhere can get something for free.
Aaaaaaah. the Caribbean!
Its a lovely wonderful place with terrific weather beautiful beaches
And the calmest warmest loveliest ocean youve ever seen and could ever exist on the planet earth
The islands that are in the Caribbean are unfortunately mostly low land coral a tall with scarcely trees water or anything to do anything with
So youre really left with two professions there : cater to tourists or try to squeak out somewhere in agriculture or something off the land or sea
No lovely beautiful Puerto Rico has incredible mountains a rain forest and other incredible features to it
Unfortunately it does still have the Caribbean weather and this the disease that affects almost everyone there of why should I bother ? its so lovely here!
I suppose its one thing to be on a tiny rock with no altitude no trees so when are can close by it takes everything out
Its a bit different when you have 4 to 5000 foot mountain like Jamaica Puerto Rico Haiti and the Dominican Republic
But again that same all disease creeps in - and why should I really do anything
Gimmeedats are gimmeedats, the country they are in doesn’t make a difference.
At least you would think they would show us a ‘little’ appreciation, whether sincere or not.
George Burns ‘Sincerity - if you can fake that, you’ve got it made.’
Two words: Houston -— Harvey
PR has nothing at this point to complain about
Heck, give them PR back.
The people mentioned in the article were living on food stamps before the hurricane hit. Now they want even more. They have generations of families who know nothing but food stamps and dependency. They have lost the ability to fend for themselves. And yet Democrats are pushing to make this haven of leeches a state.
Maria happened in 2017. It’s long past time they pulled up their bootstraps and got on with things. Grow up already. I’m sick and tired of all these whinies hanging onto the taxpayer’s teats.
I know someone who is an auditor for a big money lending company. He has to audit the office in PR and says it’s just a big joke. Says the office is full of corruption that’s just written off. The only reason there’s an office there is so the big wigs can go down and party.
And look at what the Vietnamese shrimpers, along the Gulf Coast and Louisiana, did after Katrina. Rebuilt their neighborhoods in no time. They didn’t need Brad Pitt for a photo op. They just started working and rebuilding.
These people are nothing but parasites.
I work with a guy from Puerto Rico. Still has tons of family there. He said the places that you see, that were ravaged by the storm is just one part of the island. The rest of the island is being rebuilt and thriving.
For years, Puerto Rico wanted to be their own nation. I say forgive their debt(it’ll be cheaper in the long run), give each PR citizen some money directly(might even get a few to leave Florida and go back home), and cut them loose. Let them do or die.
Puerto Ricans can’t find work on the island. When will idiot politicians finally admit that their socialist policies destroy jobs and peoples’ lives?
Puerto Rico is a welfare basket case.
Forever begging for more “assistance”.
And Always bad mouthing the givers, it’ s not enough, it’s Never enough.
