I bet within 10 years Robots will be in most warehouses. You may have 1 or two employees watching the bots.

I have read places like NYC want to tax robots so their use is not less than wages.

Even if it is tge same cost, robots are still less trouble. They don’t take sick days, waste company time, go postal, etc.

Go to a warehouse handling bulk frozen food, like strawberries, and the labor is handled by robots.

The large greenhouse growing tomatoes has a robot pulling a cart and it follows the cable buried in the concrete.

The future is in robot maintenance and electro-mechanical do-dads.

Any chance the robots can take over the repetive work done by congress?

If a factory “hires” robots, to make new robots, do those robots then get “maternity leave”?

Just askin’

;)

Unless they are moving the exact same size objects that are the exact same weight you are fighting a losing battle. Each robot needs at least a 2 man Maint. crew. People been watchin way to much SiFi Crap. Maybe in 50 or 100 years Ok.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the robots don’t start a SJR movement.

What are we going to do with these millions of illegals in a few years? Those low end jobs will be the first to be automated. Are they all going to learn to code?

I hope RoosterBot is keeping track of his rump and tail feathers. He's awfully close to bumping them into fragile things.

True. But bots can be watched from the home office 3,000 miles away and besides repair robots will automatically fix robots that break down... and robots in the home office can do the 'watching' anyhow... and and and...

Go to the Amazon page. It features some video or whatever (didn't take the bait) on Amazon's robots.

Maybe it's a warning for their troublesome warehouse workers?

Faster than that. It's one of Amazon's big reasons for their success...

But last June (2018), the Daily Mail interviewed Amazon Robotics chief technologist Tye Brady:

Amazon now has more than 100,000 robots inside its warehouses worldwide. But despite the sheer volume of robotic employees working in its fulfilment centres, Amazon insists robots will not replace human labour entirely - at least, not yet.

The firm claims the robots do not have the 'common sense' or 'dexterity' needed for the job. Amazon uses its robots to carry stock around the expansive warehouse floors and group together all the individual items needed for a specific order. This is done to reduce the amount of interaction humans have with the products. Despite this, Brady insists the robots are simply enhancing human efficiencies, and not reducing the number of warehouse jobs.

Those robots look a tad too inefficient for the price of purchase, setup and maintenance.

4 years from now? People are going to be screwed.

Dear Lord......

What’s wrong with people?

Robots don’t EARN anything.

They may cost less than hiring a human being for minimum wage, but they don’t *earn* anything and I doubt they take home a paycheck every week or two.

Standard economic theory is that the increased deployment of capital (ie. machines) and subsequent increases in productivity, should benefit the economy and overall income. The same logic says that increases in productivity mean lower costs throughout the economy, and therefore higher real wages.

My own caveat to this is that productivity increases, real wage increases, and reduced inflation are being stolen - by printed, fiat money, massive debt - and the handlers of this.

Even the Federal Reserve itself graphs the huge increase in America’s “monetary base”
