Somehow millions of illiterate low IQ illegals that we import every year NEVER seem to end up on unemployment statistics.
Maybe it's a warning for their troublesome warehouse workers?
But last June (2018), the Daily Mail interviewed Amazon Robotics chief technologist Tye Brady:
Amazon now has more than 100,000 robots inside its warehouses worldwide. But despite the sheer volume of robotic employees working in its fulfilment centres, Amazon insists robots will not replace human labour entirely - at least, not yet.The firm claims the robots do not have the 'common sense' or 'dexterity' needed for the job. Amazon uses its robots to carry stock around the expansive warehouse floors and group together all the individual items needed for a specific order. This is done to reduce the amount of interaction humans have with the products. Despite this, Brady insists the robots are simply enhancing human efficiencies, and not reducing the number of warehouse jobs.
ONLY DeBlasio & NYC would dream up putting a tax on Robots. Do they expect a state tax return also from robots???
I have long suspected the day would arrive when the same libs that gave us the minimum wage would make it illegal for businesses to lay off employees.”””
IIRC, California has a law that companies who wish to downsize, move, or close altogether MUST give all employees & the state a 60 day notice.
They also tried to pas an EXIT TAX for people leaving the state. I wonder if they consider death an EXIT?
>>Each robot needs at least a 2 man Maint. crew.
No way - I think you just made that up.
Amazon has stated they use over 100,000 robots already - do you really think they have 200,000 employees whose job it is to maintain those robots? Seriously doubt it.
A robot like the one shown, once they perfect it, working 24x7x365 can easily replace 4 FT employees 40x4 = 160 hours a week and there are 168 hours in a day) assuming they work at the same pace - my bet is they will work even faster at many tasks.
Even if this robot costs $1Million dollars, it will pay for itself in 5 years or less if employees are making $15/hour (and getting benefits) - raise that wage to $20 or $25, which unions and democrats are trying to do, and the payback is even sooner.
Every time I hear democrats pushing a new min wage bill I think to myself ‘Its time to invest even more money in robotics companies.’
Every push for a high minimum wage is essentially a subsidy to robotics companies.
They dream about new taxes every night.

Maybe some terminator robots could be released into the wild...
ignore my last post - cut/paste too fast ...^^^^^^
Sonny, is that you?
I rather enjoyed “I, Robot” and usually watch some of it whenever it airs.
No. For example, look at this video of robots packing groceries. A warehouse robot like in the top of thread could handle a variety of box sizes and shapes, as long as it's not too heavy for its vacuum arm to pick up.

>>Not sure we know about the ‘go postal’ thing yet..<<
True. More than a few movies and TV shows about tech turning on us.
As there are no 3 laws of Robotics, an AI with enough brute power will accomplish its objective even if it kills people to do it (absent complex code to avoid that).
What would a self-driving car do if faced with the “runaway streetcar” scenario?
It is a complucated problem.
Of course a robot isn’t going to the hidden word games that come with those virus loads. And actually they can alert the lube and repair robots that they’re gonna need it. IBM has had that predictive algorithm in place for over a decade, very high degree of accuracy. And resetting the tools is easy too, one set of commands, all the robots you need updated, in any of your factories, anywhere in the world, boom. No dragging everybody in for new training.
The robots will win. Because they’re more efficient in every possible way.
Only a matter of time before one of them travels back to the 80’s and tries to kill Sarah Conner.
A scene from Logan’s Run comes to mind.
To DeBloviate dreaming of taxes is a wet dream.
You’re like 15 years behind on your robot tech. Basically everything you said is 100% bunk.
Those robots look a tad too inefficient for the price of purchase, setup and maintenance.
4 years from now? People are going to be screwed.
Dear Lord......
What’s wrong with people?
Robots don’t EARN anything.
They may cost less than hiring a human being for minimum wage, but they don’t *earn* anything and I doubt they take home a paycheck every week or two.
