A player on Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team has accused the head coach of being emotionally abusive and the university of silencing allegations.
The university says it is investigating the claims. Taryn Taugher, the lone senior on NKU women's basketball team, wrote a post in The Odyssey alleging emotional abuse by head coach Camryn Whitaker. Taugher also alleges that Northern Kentucky University's athletic department is willing to "silence the multiple emotional abuse allegations."
The Odyssey is similar to a blog site, where contributors publish content. It is popular with college students.
In her post, Taugher alleges that she has been a "punching bag" since her first practice in June 2016. In the 2017-18 season, Taugher played in all 31 games with five starts.
Whitaker has been with NKU since 2016. Prior to that, she coached one season at University of Kentucky and three at University of Dayton.
"These verbal attacks were mostly behind closed doors, in her office, on what she liked to call the "crying couch" where it was your word against hers. Where she could get you alone and tear you apart. These meetings were mostly done weekly and before games, so you were so messed up from your beat-up-session that you couldn't possibly play well by game time," Taugher wrote.

For some reason this reminded of....

One of those who invent their own traumas because nothing really bad ever happens to them.
I have no idea what the real story is but that woman looks mean.
I bet she gives a mean tongue lashing.
I have noticed that a lot of women’s coaches have wild eyes.
I don’t think it has anything to do with lesbians either. Still I wonder why.
Snowflake can’t handle being treated as an adult. Give her a participation trophy and send her on her way.
The female coach has a mans forehead. Otherwise, she appears to be attractive for a 40 something woman. It sounds as if she was emotionally abusive and destructive towards the girl members of the team. If I were the Athletic Director at the college I would hold a hearing and then fire her with extreme prejudice.
butbutbutbut... female athletes are exactly the same as male athletes, and just as tough, and just as popular, and just as emotionally secure...
Um, coaches do this. They use every method in their arsenal to get players to play at their best. Sometimes, it does include “bullying.”
I saw what you just now did right there.
Do it tomorrow AM though, don't do it this late at night lest ye have nightmares...
Guess tis shrinking violet never went out for wrestling or football.
OK I have to chime in
I am so freaking sick and tired of the word bullying that I wanted banned from the lexicon forever more
First of all this is sports were talking about -coaches are supposed to be tough and yell at their players and expect them to perform
But beyond that I have two male children and one female especially with male children teasing tauntjng bullying whatever you want to call it is part of how males develop their hierarchy
If you try to turn all of the males into little die so Ill wimps our society goes away and we all turn into socialists
