You know, the Jewish American breakfast staple with a slice right down the middle, often topped with lox and cream cheese. Yum!
But wait...what is...THIS:
A style of slicing bagels as you would a loaf of bread aka bread-sliced has caused OUTRAGE among a lot of people this week. (Ok, so not real outrage, but, like, bread outrage.)
The drama all started when Alek Krautmann, a St. Louis native and employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tweeted a photo Monday of a box of Panera bagels looking like theyd gone through a paper shredder.
Today I introduced my coworkers to the St. Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced, he tweeted. It was a hit!

Makes sense, I guess ...
“President Trump putting ketchup on his steak”
Now I have to try that. Maybe we can make ketchup on steak a secret Nazi symbol. Carry ketchup packets from McDONALDs into trendy restaurants. Squeeze it on your steak and make your bun-headed server run for his safe space. Maybe you get thrown out without having to pay. Good fun!!
That’s why they invented bagel slicers.
They actually call it a 'bagel cut'...
How would you toast them?
Cinnamon Crunch Bagels put through the bread machine......side of honey nut butter.
However you slice ‘em, they all end up looking the same once you eat them.
Good idea!
I’m going to start slicing my bagels this way too!
Everything is unforgivable.
Must be. Bagel chips are sold in the bag all over the country.
Maybe the baker is a member of ISIS.... “Die Zionist bagel!!!”
I have been in lots of Panera’s and have never seen their bagels sliced like this. Must have been a customer request. If you look at the picture, the boxes are in an office, not Panera. Even though I’ve never seen it done, it makes sense in an office where someone might just want a bite or two for a snack.
Ketchup is made from tomatoes which, as most people know, are fruit. Why isn’t it considered a tomato smoothie?
Trump’s fault. Impeachable offense.
The hole is the least chewy part.
As a Gentile, does this mean that I engage in cultural appropriation when enjoying a bagel?
(FD: I find the bread-slicing method of preparing bagels to be very shifty.)
Maybe they had an old paper cutter taking up space, and put it to work?
According to Sheldon Cooper, tea is actually "leaf soup" ...
