Seriously hypoglycemic here and carbs are the devil, for me.

Pretty much an obligate carnivore now so I hope this is BS.

They don’t want people taking their health into their own hands like that.

People who do that don’t need to visit the doctor or take prescription meds as often.

It just amazes me how hateful some folks are about this. I eat one meal a day and pretty much fast the rest of the time, One has to make sure though that you get enough calories, but I manage with 2 BPC’s per day, which contains half a stick of butter! Even my fellow keto tribe peeps thinks that’s a bit extreme, but, I am NEVER hungry. I am a thin woman again and pretty darn proud of it. But that’s secondary. My body thanks me, my health is awesome.

I follow a similar regiment of cyclical fasting in a 6 hour window and one meal a day. I was low carb before, however after adopting keto all my metabolic markers moved to exceptional values.

Like you, I am never hungry and my weight is back to that of my late teens and have recovered my athletic build with a height to waist ratio under .50.

Congratulations on your great health.

"I think the standard diet advice is total crap. It’s insane how badly overdosed the modern diet is on carbs. If you exercise a lot, yes eat carbs or you’ll be sluggish. if you don’t, cut way, way, way back."

I agree. For about three years, when I was in my late 40s, I lifted a lot of weights. Additionally, I severely reduced my starches, sugars and alcohol. I focused on meat, fruits and vegetables. I ate like a horse, built a lot of muscle and reduced my body fat to the point you could see the veins in my abdomen. Unfortunately, it was hard eating correctly. I really like peanut M&Ms and sandwiches.

“Where the hell are you getting your information?”

Clearly not borne of confirmation bias.

I wrote a book with a 1000 references explaining why people seek out studies which reinforce their biases.

You went back to 1922 for a case study?

What is wrong with you?

You obviously have no idea the damage you’re doing. I bet you launched into keto without reading absolutely anything about the negative health effects of engaging keto over the long term. There’s a term for that.

Slim, energetic healthy people drop dead of sudden cardiac death every day.

But you need that emotional reinforcement; you can’t help it. There’s a reason for that.

Oh, by the way, there’s a little warning contained in all the fine print of literature about keto to this effect:

“Keto diets should only be used under clinical supervision and only for brief periods”.

Gee. I wonder why. /s

Furthermore, a source has this to say about keto: “... nutritional ketosis while eating a well-balanced keto diet should only produce low levels of ketones that are safe for the average person and not a cause for concern.”

“Should”??? Seriously? And “well-balanced keto diet”? There’s no such thing. Keto is another fad that’s destroying peoples’ health, but stealthily.

You say ‘hostile’, I say ‘direct’. Interesting that you perceive it as hostile. There’s a reason for that to...but I’m not sharing.

I refuse to let keto cheerleaders blather on without challenge. Sort of like trolls glorifying socialism...

Free advice: Take a hard look at your health journal over the past 2 years and discern what you did that actually made a health impact. It was NOT keto.

I do hope that you didn’t engage a major lifestyle change without logging all the changes in a journal; that would be extremely foolish and reckless.

I’m not citing any of the contrary studies; they’re all out there for people to see. Unfortunately you have to have Boolean skills, as SEO pushes the positive propaganda to the very top.

Take it or leave it, but be sure to have your living will completed.

“What is wrong with you?”

I would ask the same, but I know the answer.

You wrote previously: “The original KETO diet for epilepsy was based on drinking mostly processed oils. THAT IS NOT THE SCIENCE TODAY.”

That 1922 paper is written by Dr. Russell Wilder himself.

Cite the use of processed oils. You cannot. They had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and engaged a wholly-scientific method to establish the short-term physiological effects of a very, very regimented whole food diet for a very specific purpose. And it certainly did not originate from an emotional need to lose weight.

All citations from you on keto are invalidated. Your word on the topic is moot.

If you are, indeed, an engineer, you damned well know better. So I presume it’s health driving this hysteria. Seek out a naturopath to toss you a literal life preserver...

Free advice. Or if you’d like, I could send you a bill. /s

You obviously don’t listen very well. I said it once but I’ll say it again, I don’t want your advice. You come off emotionally disturbed by other people’s choices that you disagree with. Geez Louise cool your stool.

I am in charge of my own health for better or for worse. The Lord knows the number of days I got left and I will live them seeking his will for them. I wish you well too and good luck with your choices. I respect them and you need to respect mine regardless of your thoughts about it. Good night

BS study! AFib is a result of too little magnesium, L-taurine and L-arginine over a long period of time. As long as you are eating quality proteins and ample amounts of a variety of vegetables, you will be hard pressed to a deficiency, providing you do not have a gut issue. Grains, sugars and various other starches are full of calories and void of nutrients.

Didn’t peanut M&Ms used to have chocolate in them? That last time I had them, no detectable chocolate. I’d rather eat Goobers...

Well, but now you can’t say that no one ever warned you. It’s truly a shame that no one didn’t do the same decades ago about obviously poor choices which prompted you to do keto out of desperation.

Best o’ luck, but get that Will done.

You really haven’t any clue. Most keto supporters are likewise. Neither did I until I did the research and woke the hell up.

Others pondering engaging this hysteria called keto will see my words and hopefully seek out balance, making choices of their own accord and not fawning over a regimen which was NEVER intended to be a long-term lifestyle change.

For those new folks desperately seeking solutions to problems, the mountain of propaganda on the topic is an incredible barrier to breach.

If you have something that affects the veins then that can spread to the heart. This was explained to me on Friday in detail by an expert doctor with detailed pictures who was recommended to me by an expert doctor who was recommended to me by a doctor.

Then the expert doctor, who I was told is the best in Berlin, prescribed for me to wear a compression bandage on my right leg because of a collapse of a main vein that is sending my blood in the wrong direction.

So I kind of cut him short because really, I don’t like listening and looking at this kind of medical details and asked if we could skip the compression bandage (for 8 weeks to see how that helps) and go straight to surgery to remove the bad vein.

Then he went into detail with more pictures of the risks with the surgery. So to cut him off again I agreed to the compression bandage.

The next day, yesterday, I was riding my bicycle and chashing a ball with my daughter and her toy poodle in the park. I told my wife look at me active in the park when I am supposed to be getting a bandage for my leg.

The expert doctor even told me, before I cut him off, the compression bandage is to be worn during activity. It’s like I am too stupid to live or something. I’ll get it this week.

I mean come on if you eat veggies you’re getting some low energy dense, lower sugar, slower carbs. that ought to be a lot, lot safer for you than high energy sugar/starch carbs.

Besides seriously the most important things you can docfor your heart and arteries is co q10, and resveratrol, if you want to take a couple easy things that won’t wonk your blood sugar.

You are probably right, but I don't care. Goobers are really good too.

You Posted "STUDIES OF THE METABOLISM OF DIABETES."

This was a 1922 case study. Dietary treatment with a ketogenic diet was not established until 1971 by Huttenlocher.

What the hell does a "case study" of diabetes in 1922 have to do with the first excepted treatment of epilepsy in 1971?

Are you drunk?

Yes — I was diagnosed with Diabetes two years ago and changed my diet around.

You should talk to a diabetic nutritionist and coordinate with your doctor but they told me to completely ignore “calories” and count carbs instead.

The quick-and-simple idea is that 1/4 of your plate should be meat (or other protein), 1/4 grain or starchy vegetable, and 1/2 non-starchy vegetable. Do this 2 or 3 times a day, and if your blood sugar allows, one snack per day of no more than 30 carbs (I like chocolate, so 30 carbs = 7 rolos or 1/4 of a Lindt Easter bunny)

*** “I eat one meal a day and pretty much fast the rest of the time,” ***

Same here, some days I am just not hungry (like yesterday) and it becomes One meal every other day.
I haven’t felt this good in years.
People seem to think that KETO folks are zealots because they are so enthusiastic but we are just happy...
