These teachers did not volunteer to be shot with Airsoft rounds or paintballs - both of these constitute assault when done in public without protective gear, including eye protection.

>These teachers did not volunteer to be shot with Airsoft rounds or paintballs ...

White County sheriff Bill Brooks, whose department led the training in question, told IndyStar that teachers “all knew they could be” shot...

Their backs were turned. A little welt and some hurt pride, maybe they’ll remember if the real thing ever comes along.

While the value of the training my be questionable, whether or not they “volunteered” is irrelevant. A school shooter will not ask, “OK, all those willing to get shot, line up over here.”

Pain is a teaching aid.

They will NEVER forget that lesson.

And personally, I'd rather see a few teachers have their backsides get stung and their precious egos get bruised than see a classroom full of Beslan-style carnage because of stupid, stubborn libs who made the kids "die in place" because they didn't know how - or refused to learn how - to take action.

We live in a different world now. This isn't the same world any of us grew up in.

There are people amongst us now that contemplate murder every day - The same people that flew airliners into the WTC; the same people that murdered all of those Russian school children in Beslan. Or just some nutcase that wants to cause pain and horror for the thrill of it or because he's mad at the world.

To pretend that threat doesn't exist, and NOT take active, pre-emptive measures to try to prevent - or in the event of an actual situation, to mitigate further slaughter - is criminally negligent.

Our children are forced by law to be in these schools for x number of hours a day; those people are responsible for the childrens' safety - THEY are the "First Responders", and if they aren't taught or trained HOW to respond in an emergency/active shooter situation, well, then you have the potential for Beslan.

We protect banks better than we protect school children. And that is criminal to me. It should be criminal to everyone.

I'm ALL IN on armed security at schools. Whatever it takes.

As far as warning them first... no active shooter is going to warn them. The shock value is a lesson all it's own.

Did you ever stop to think that the teachers may be lying. Here is the photo that accompanies the IndyStar's "story" on this. Notice the eye protection on the folks under the table? How would they know to have that if they weren't briefed in advance. It also looks like the officer is using a nerf type gun. If this is a separate event, then the IndyStar shouldn't have used this photo. If it was a photo from the alleged incident, the teachers are lying.

I didn’t know that they were setup as victims. How stupid.
