A woman was arrested in Slovenia for fraud after cutting her hand off with a circular saw in a bid to land an insurance payout, police say.
Her hand was later sewn back on at Ljubljana University Medical Centre.
She was hoping to get around €380,000 in compensation after signing up for five insurance policies shortly before the incident, officers alleged.
"With one of her accomplices, she intentionally amputated her hand at the wrist with a circular saw, hoping to stage it as an accident," police spokesman Valter Zrinski told during a news conference on Monday.
The 21-year-old and her accomplice — a 29-year-old member of her family — have been detained and face up to eight years in prison if found guilty.

Well you have to hand it to her she was trying.
That’s a special kind of crazy.
When I was 6 years old, I was sitting out in the yard with my friend. I hear the man across the street shouting Help! Help!. The lady next door heard him and went into his garage to find he’d cut his hand off with a radial arm saw.
Some time later he was out in his front yard and dug up a gopher and it was out in the street. He grabbed it with that hook squeezed then he had two half gophers. Needless to say we thought that was pretty cool.
The moral to the story is their can always be a silver lining.

Years ago, I met a man in the insurance business. He said a surgeon tapped his, and several other companies, by buying the maximum disability insurance each company would allow, then went out to the wood pile and chopped off the tip of his pinkie with an axe. Then said he couldn’t do surgery anymore and collected from all the companies.
I wouldn’t want him doing surgery any more any ways.................
It’s only a flesh wound.
