Will new gun initiatives help stop violence in New Jersey’s cities?
Jersey Journal ^ | March 12, 2019

JERSEY CITY — Gov. Phil Murphy visited Jersey City Tuesday to announce that his administration is taking aim at gun-makers in an effort to lessen gun violence in New Jersey.

But will pressure on Smith & Wesson from the state of New Jersey do anything to curb street violence in places like Jersey City, where four high school students were shot dead last year? Reaction is mixed, with praise for Murphy’s actions from Democratic officials and more muted support from local activists.

Pamela Johnson is an anti-violence advocate who visited the Bethune community center on Martin Luther King Drive to watch Murphy’s announcement that he is joining the “Do Not Stand Idly By” campaign. The nationwide anti-gun violence initiative asks gun-makers to stop working with dealers who sell guns to “straw purchasers” and to widely adopt “smart gun” technology.

New Jersey doesn’t have a gun problem, they have a criminal problem and a DemocRAT problem, but I repeat myself.

And when it doesn’t, they’ll just try another tactic that also won’t work

S $ W should just gather up their belongings and move out and refuse to sell any of their product to any person, business or law enforcement entity in NJ

I was open carrying today, and it's no problem in Alaska, or Arizona, where I have a winter home. Open carry in NJ and people would be totally freaking out. 911 would be overloaded, all schools with 30 miles would go on lockdown, the Emergency Broadcast System would be activated and people would be told to shelter in place, every police officer within 50 miles would be racing to the scene, SWAT would called out and the National Guard would be called up by the governor.

Democrat control would be a better idea.

Do we see disproportionate amounts of violence in that particular neighborhood??? Just wondering. And if so, you wonder if those “youth gangs” who perpetrate so much gun violence, will put down their guns in response to this effort???

How about the example of Vermont when only in very recent times there was basically no gun control and very little, if any, violent crime?

Well, to talk of Vermont, you get into issues such as, there are relatively few members of minority groups in that state, and no big cities.

I’m sure it’s “politically incorrect” of me to make note of those aspects of Vermont contributing to a lower crime rate, and rate of gun violence in particular. But there are reasons why Vermont doesn’t have the same social and violence problems as places such as urban New Jersey.

Against The Constitution and Citizens.

How are the manufacturers of weapons responsible for the irresponsible use of their products?

Might as well sue GM for drunk driving accidents.

Will new gun initiatives help stop violence in New Jersey’s cities?

Only if those new initiatives are to allow normal, upstanding citizens to carry concealed everywhere in NJ.
