Just over a year after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida where a gunman claimed the lives of 17 students and teachers, gun violence and the prevalence of violent crime in the United States remain hot button issues in American society.
Undoubtedly, the US has remarkably high rates of violent crime compared to other developed nations in Europe and Asia, especially in certain regions, but what is the underlying cause behind these numbers? Could it be the nations lax gun laws and the ease of acquiring a firearm, or is there another explanation?
Is this about gun control or the lack thereof? The strictness of gun laws seems to play a role in violent crime rates, as the states with well over their share of cities in the top 100 (Table 1), like Florida, Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama, all have rather lax gun laws. However, there are exceptions: New Jersey, home to five cities in the top 100, and Illinois, home to three (including #98 Chicago) have very strict gun laws.
Although mass shootings are becoming increasingly common in American life, the violent crime and prevalence of gun murders plaguing Americas most dangerous cities arent best explained by lax gun laws, rates of gun ownership, or one-off rampages (although, these do have an effect), but rather, by income inequality.

How many of these are led by ‘rats?
I have not confirmed but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that all 10 of those cities have Democrat mayors.
DC isn’t #1? This list is garbage.
BS on this list. DC isn’t even on there.
Chicago is #91? No way.
Demo_____. crats or graphics?
Any other demographics that might prove instructive..?
'rat propaganda site. The list is worthless.
“... by income inequality.”
The left feels that the underclass has the right to waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from their “oppressors.”
Giving the underclass money HASN’T stopped the crime! It has made crime worse, since the underclass hasn’t done anything honest to support itself and feels entitled to take whatever it wants from those evil people.
Great! I don’t see Gary, Indiana in the top 10 anymore. What did they do right?
Chicago is #91? No way.
That said, if certain Chicago or DC neighborhoods were counted as distinct entities, they’d make the list.
And, to be fair, it’s not the Democrat mayors who are creating the violent crime (for the most part) but rather a certain demographic that votes for Democrats with a blind loyalty of over 95% that is causing the problems.
But why do we always hear about Chicago?
No way Chicago is #91
Led by rats. And these cities have gone dark.
In most American cities, we are more likely to be maimed, injured or killed in a traffic accident than gunned down.
The link below takes us to the cities with the worse drivers:

Well, well... My old hometown is no longer on the 100 list.
In a any major city on the east coast if you want to find the most dangerous area in the city find Martin Luther King Bvd. and take it.
That list doesn’t have income inequality, it is all low income uniformity and heavy reliance on public assistance.
They all have high minority and/or illegal migrant populations
