Measles Is Making a Comeback. Here’s How to Stop It.
New York Times ^ | March 11, 2019 | The Editorial Board

Measles, a virus that invades the nose and throat, causing fever, cough and phlegm, is one of the most contagious pathogens on the planet. Before 1963, it infected some four million people every year in the United States alone. Nearly 50,000 of them would land in the hospital with complications like severe diarrhea, pneumonia and brain inflammation that sometimes resulted in lifelong disability. Of the 500 or so patients who died from these complications each year, most were children younger than 5.

Until recently, those numbers were a matter of history. The measles vaccine, which was introduced to the United States in 1963, drove the annual case count from four million to zero inside of four decades. Measles was officially eradicated in America in 2000 and was largely wiped from our collective memory soon after.

But in the shadow of that memory lapse, a different virus has spread: anti-vaccine propaganda and vaccine misinformation. Both have persuaded a small but growing number of parents that vaccines designed to inoculate against infectious diseases pose a greater health risk than the diseases themselves. As a result, these parents are skipping crucial shots for their children. And as the number of unvaccinated children grows, some vaccine-preventable diseases are making a comeback.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has logged at least six measles outbreaks so far this year, across five states, involving more than 100 patients. In recent weeks, as those numbers have ticked upward, both houses of Congress have held hearings to discuss the issue, while more states have considered limiting vaccine exemptions for school-age children and several prominent social media platforms have pledged to block anti-vaccine propaganda and vaccine misinformation from their sites.

This is a total propaganda piece of writing. 1,000 children in the hospital in every state every year from measles? Not at all likely. 50,000 from what is essentially a harmless disease if you have a brain in your head and know how to nurse a sick child.

It’s the fever in the mother/gestating fetus and the newborn infant that are the hazards.

The vaccine schedule elicits an immune response in some people and I’m convinced that it is the fever that is responsible for nearly all of the compromising effects, including so-called “Autism Spectrum Disorder”...

The vaccines should be spread out (further) and not in combination. If vaccines are not 100% safe, then they are inherently-dangerous.

Anybody arguing FOR vaccines and labeling those arguing ‘vaccine safety’ as “anti-vaxxers” without demanding liability for vaccine manufacturers is not only a flippin hypocrite, but a party to injury & death.

They’re playing a numbers game with people’s lives for profitability. Tell me that there’s not something perverse about that which should elicit a violent response from parents of affected children...

I am not one of them, but I could hardly blame them. I know far too many parents of affected children; there’s something disturbingly-wrong with the statistics on this and, yes, I fault government, the medical community and vaccine manufacturers.

(Notice that I did NOT fault ‘vaccines’...)

Exactly. Quit importing turd world disease ridden populations. We used to quarantine people before letting them in

I saw a TV report earlier that said more than 2000 illegals being held in detention have the measles.

Dems are frothing from their mouths that we should let people like this loose in the US.

“we were warned not to lose our shot cards ... otherwise, you would go thru the whole process again.
No one ever lost their shot card ... ever.”

Back the sixties I was inoculated against every damn thing imaginable, then again in the seventies when I went into the service. I still have my shot card, it’s in a little wooden keepsake box of memorabilia with items like my passport from 1964, my shot card, My Boy Scout card, and other stuff like that. For some reason I stuck in this box. But yeah, never lose it or you’ll have to get it all over again was the mantra of fear. And some of those shots would hurt like hell... gamma globulin was one I fondly recall as being extremely painful the day after.

I grew up in the 1940-50 era, with a neighborhood full of war baby kids (pre-boomers). Parents would willingly let kids go play/visit with kids infected with red measles or mumps.

I caught both from playmates before I was six (1st grade) and my folks knew how to care for me (dark room, etc.). We stayed away from kids with German measles, scarlet fever, polio or whooping cough, though.

I was standing on line in the hallway at school. I fainted. I was in 1st grade. The kids thought I died. Went to the school nurse. She diagnosed me with German measles. My mom had a newborn 1 month old baby at home so the nurse drive me home in her car. Imagine that today.Oh for the good old days.

Option A: Build the Wall

Option B: Suspend any pretense of Constitutional liberties and FORCE the population to submit to mass vaccinations, for which big pharma companies will reap a windfall of tax dollars.

Gee, I wonder which one they will choose?

Vaccinating on average is less harmful than not vaccinating.

Um...pulling the trigger only once is on average less harmful than twice or more in Russian Roulette.

It’s that resignation which is inherently more dangerous than everything that’s thrown against us. Fluoridation was thrown at us in much the same way. So have literally thousands of chemicals now labeled GRAS, including glyphosate.

They said for DECADES that thimerosal was safe, yet it’s been quietly removed from nearly all vaccines.

Why?

It’s that same resignation which has brought us do-nothing republicans on the Hill and across the country. This is why I’m particularly-peeved at Conservatives who attack people like me because I challenged their ignorance with my activism. If I had an infant, it would be vaccinated MY way, come hell or high water. I know FAR too many parents of Autism Spectrum Disorder children. There are not an infinite number of potential causes. The clues are all there.

I dare you to make that same statement to a parent of an Autistic child.

At the very least concede that a parent should have the right to sue the manufacturers. Until that happens, between doctors and bureaucrats, parents have a gun pointed at their heads to vaccinate their children.

The better question to ask here is - in consideration that Polio was, in fact, on the decline BEFORE the Salk vaccine - why a new polio-like illness is now making a resurgence and why century-old diseases are also returning.

I think I know why and it has nothing to do with parents who opt out of vaccines. And, yes, it has a bit to do with that ‘resignation’...

Thanks.

Clear and simple, diseases are being spread, but what are the causes? Is it any coincidence that the media is in lockstep to place the blame on antivaxxers? This way they shield the antiwall brigade from any culpability which they know is coming.

If we are to believe the media, we are told that one person on a flight arriving at LAX has placed countless people at “risk”. If that’s the case, I wonder how many have been placed at risk due to open borders? Strangely enough, no mention of that.
https://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-ln-measles-lax-20190312-story.html

It’s not as though government has ever before been involved in deception:

Tuskegee: could it happen again? This author seems to believe it very likely could, since ethics and safeguards are minimal. After all, what’s a few casualties in the scope of “the greater good” or otherwise, the “collective”

https://pmj.bmj.com/content/77/911/553

Just like the manufacturers of today’s vaccines, they have immunity from liability. No one was ever held liable for the Tuskegee “experiment” The government knew the airmen were carriers of Syphilis who could have been cured with penicillin, yet were instead used as guinea pigs for government.

If government has been known to withhold the cure in cases such as Tuskegee, how do we trust them when they propose to possess the “cure”?

When we purchase a new vehicle, we also are assured of a warranty. As well, we are safeguarded with recalls. My question is, how do vaccine manufacturers recall administered vaccines? What warranty do they offer? Because the media supports it? The same media which have taken their thirty pieces of silver from big pharma? Same with lobbyists and politicians.

Better yet, if they are immune to liability, why would they recall and subject themselves responsible for what they have perhaps been responsible for?

Let the buyer beware. After all it can also be argued Takata airbags have saved lives right? The government assured us they were safe otherwise they would not have approved it’s use. Where is the governments responsibility and liability?

Why are tobacco producers held liable for decades, yet the government is rewarded with higher tax revenues? The government approved the sale of tobacco, yet they assuredly knew for decades, the cost it would have on peoples health.

Trust the government, they have safeguard regulations on vaccines, just like they do on airbags and tobacco!

To vaccine or not vaccine? Let the consumer beware and be given the choice to decide. But let the manufacturer back their product with financial safeguards and liabilities.

Perhaps vaccines are effective. On the other side of that equation, then, lies the possibility, just like Tuskegee, they are given placebos and transported throughout the U.S.

Population control? Government knows best!
