Trump to request $8.6B in wall funding in 'tough' budget request, setting up congressional showdown

President Trump will soon formally seek a total of $8.6 billion for border wall funding from Congress as part of the White House's upcoming budget proposal for the next fiscal year, sources tell Fox News, although the aggressive request faces all-but-certain rejection in Congress amid a growing crisis at the southern border. According to a source familiar with the request, Trump will look to secure $5 billion from Congress, plus $3.6 billion from the military construction budget, for the fiscal year 2020. The request is coming on top of the $8.1 billion Trump already has access to, which includes some $3.6 billion he's trying to shift from military accounts after declaring a national emergency. Trump invoked the emergency declaration last month after Congress denied his request for $5.7 billion. Instead, Congress approved nearly $1.4 billion for the border barriers, far less than he wanted.

What’s really going on??

It seems he never gets money for the wall but he says there is a lot of building of the wall going on.

This article says he has access to billions already.

Confused.

Sounds like a little ‘shiffin’ going on of budgeted dollars.

Congressional Republicans need to decide whether they will finally do the right thing and back the president on the wall, or fade away into utter irrelevance. They had two years of majority control of both houses and did nothing - now, multiple GOP senators are voting against Trump's emergency declaration because they've suddenly discovered that they value the Constitutional separation of powers concept - after years of impotently watching Obama trample the Constitution.

I know Republicans no longer control the House, and that's in no small part due to the fact that they betrayed their voters for the umpteenth time. But they can at least take a stand now and solidly vote to support Trump's budget and back in any shutdown. Or they can continue to pander to voters who will never vote for them, abandon all principle and destroy themselves on the road to destroying the US.

We’re being flimflammed.

PDJT is either under the gun of the corrupt state or he has been gas lighting us this entire time. I hope it’s the former because it’s too depressing to contemplate the latter.

I just figured there would be a lot of news reports in the msm if parts of the wall were being built.

Is it possible to build in areas that would go undetected?

Yes i’m from the north so I have no idea :)

"But they can at least take a stand now ..."

Can't speak for anyone else, but after 25 Federal Elections in my life, so far, but I am damn sure not holding my breath for the GOP to take a "stand" on anything without back tracking immediately there after.

The “president’s budget” is always ignored no matter who is in the White House. It’s a political document.
