Jan-Michael Vincent, 1980s TV heartthrob and star of Airwolf, has died.

The actor passed away last month, on February 10, after suffering a cardiac arrest at a North Carolina hospital. He was 74.

No autopsy was performed and the star was later cremated, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ.

The Denver born star had many screen credits to his name, with his career spanning back to the late 1960s.

His last role was in the 2002 independent drama White Boy.

But it was his role as helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke in Airwolf - after an acclaimed performance in the 1983 television miniseries The Winds of War - that made him a star.

Re: Vincent dies from cardiac arrest - no autopsy

In the 1972 film “The Mechanic,” Jan-Michael Vincent murdered Charles Bronson with a drug that causes cardiac arrest and cannot be detected by an autopsy!

He first came to prominence in the 1971 made for TV movie “Tribes” where he played a hippie Marine Corps recruit at war with his DI played by Darren McGavin. Great things were predicted for him and for a while it seemed it might be true. Sad story.

He really messed himself up.

I thought he’d already passed away years ago.

TOO HARD and too early.

And hard is a little different than utterly crazy, semi suicidal, completely self destructive behavior.

I can’t believe he made it past 50.

He could have been one of the big ones.

I hope he passed in peace

Great ending!

A movie with some actual thought put into it.

He destroyed himself with drugs and drinks.
He became such a burnout that he made himself unemployable.
Cautionary tale about Hollywood excess.

If James Dean had lived longer, he could have ended his career like Jan Michele Vincent or Mickey Rourke.

I understand the producers later regretted killing off Arthur Bishop (Bronson)...they realized they could have made a series out of “The Mechanic”.
