The Paintings of Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890)-Brahms
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, will unveil a new Vincent van Gogh exhibition this Sunday, offering a rare—perhaps once-in-a-lifetime—opportunity to see the iconic Dutch painters’ masterpieces up close and in person. The exhibition runs through June 27.
Vincent van Gogh: His Life in Art showcases 56 Van Gogh paintings and drawings, most of which rarely travel from their homes in the two largest repositories of his work: the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, and the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, in the Netherlands. About a dozen additional works by the artist on loan from other museums and private collections round out the display to fully illustrate his short yet productive life.

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is open almost 365 days a year, so everyone is welcome to visit. I wouldn't call viewing a Van Gogh a "rare chance."
It’s the volume of paintings that is rare. You’ll be inundated in Van Gogh’s world. Goes to the end of June.

Try going to Chicago, Paris, St. Petersburg RU or The Netherlands. There are lots of Van Goghs out there.
Don’t fly. And I am from Chicago, so saw the ones there and a Tiffany exhibition and a Monet Exhibition. But I can imagine training to Houston or driving.
Not when I was there! (It was closed for renovations.) Some paintings were moved to the Rijksmuseum, but not that many as I recall. I saw most of them when they were on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

US based artist Diemut Strebe grew a replica copy of painter Vincent van Gogh’s ear earlier this year.
Living cells were taken from one of Van Gogh’s relatives and shaped using a 3D printer to resemble the ear the artist is said to have cut off in 1888.
The ear, which was placed in a nutrient rich solution to keep it alive, formed part of an art exhibition at a German museum.

St. Petersburg FL has a cool Salvador Dali Museum.
I went to the Art Institute museum in Chicago. I was blown away by the number of famous works. It was like opening an art history textbook!
I was an art history major at U of Chicago after I dropped out of physics in my senior year. We had some of our classes in the museum and it always overwhelmed me. Mother was a fine arts major at U of C and I was raised in the Art Institute in front of the Lorado Taft statues, then got to take classes in his studio, where mother had studied.
There was a showing of Van Gogh’s works in SF in the 70s. I went five times
