Some of them lead colorful lives.

I was no angel from late teens to maybe 24.

Knew a bunch of wiseguys growing up and ran into a few more.

Had some trouble a few times. Enough to cause several sit downs between the high up guys I knew and the high up guys the boys i had trouble with knew.

And when a decision was handed down, you can BET we young guys did exactly as they decided.

Or it would have ended bad for the person that didn’t listen.

Closest I am is my oldest son had a nonno who was an attorney for the mafia in Roma. Spent a couple years in jail too.

The worst thing you can ever do is get “connected” to a mobster. Anyone around them is fair game.

An old girlfriend of mine was once the girlfriend of a Mafia prince before I met her. The stories of abuse, mistreatment, and violence she told, sent chills up my spine.

Took her three tries to successfully escape him and that world, but she finally made it. That was a hair raising tale in itself. She once told me matter of factly, "If they ever find me, I'm dead."

I later learned she'd been using an assumed name the whole time I knew her.

Some years later I came *this* close to being snuffed by a mobster, myself. Long story for another time.
