Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has shot down a new amendment introduced by Republicans, that would require gun sellers to notify ICE when illegal aliens attempt to buy guns, saying the bill is "xenophobic."GOP lawmakers included a provision in a House bill that would make it a legal requirement for vendors to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement if the buyer was revealed to be an illegal immigrant after conducting background checks.

Introducing a requirement for sellers to ensure citizenship probably isn’t the best idea out there. Especially if it eventually applies to private sales. Things morph and so would this. Although it’s for a different rational, I can agree with Nancy on this one.
