Lamar Mayor Darnell Byrd McPherson believed she was the victim of a hate crime after discovering a yellow, sticky substance on the hood of her car
Police investigated after McPherson filed a report, as material was also found on her husband's car in the South Carolina town
Cops later launched a probe and found that the substance was 'pollen'
Before the probe McPherson said she was grateful the alleged culprits 'didn't take our lives' and hoped 'they would be identified and prosecuted'

And whoever took the picture did not take enough care to make sure the sheet covered all the background. There’s stuff peeking out in the lower left hand corner.
Whoever did that should be fired.
I wonder how hard the cops who took the call had to try to not laugh and treat this seriously.
They must hate her for them to go along with this knowing that the end result would be public embarrassment and humiliation when this broke in the news.
Although, some people do not know how to feel shame.

I’ve seen cars, including my own, covered with pollen. It is common in this area in the spring.

We even get a lot of yellow sticky pollen up here in MA. It’s from the Oak Tree.
In my neck of the woods, the pollen travels far enough that there *IS* nowhere that isn’t under a layer of yellow dust.
It takes a pressure washer and a good hand scrub if you were dumb enough to park within 50’ of the trees.
Then there is the bee poop that happens once the rest of the plants are in flower.

Well....When you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Her name could have been Jane Smith, and I still would have guessed that she is a “woman of color”. Guess we know who is the “Village Idiot” in Lamar, SC.
My car has a fuzzy yellow coat - weather has been yo-yoing from colder than usual to mild and it really kicks the pollen manufacturers into high gear....anyone living in Southern States should be aware of what that yellow stuff is.....and she must be extra stupid to think some yellow crud on a car is a “hate crime’...shows how their minds are obsessed about that which only they seem to think about.
I wondered when someone would catch that. Notice that the wording comes directly from the headline itself. Once again, headline writers with a literacy problem.
