Civil liberties activists have long argued that bulk collection of Americans phone records doesnt make us any safer. Now, weve got pretty clear evidence thats the case. Luke Murry, an adviser to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told the Lawfare Podcast on Saturday that for the last six months the Trump administration hasnt actually been using the phone record collection program authorized by the 2015 USA FREEDOM Act. He added that hes unsure if the administration will ask Congress to reauthorize this program at the end of the year. If Murry is telling the truth about the administrations non-use of the phone metadata collection program, then its even more obvious proof that such a program does more to damage civil liberties than it does to protect national security. Clearly, the administration shouldnt ask Congress to reauthorize this program.

Correction. They admit they stopped using one technique. What’s the new program and how does it work?
I think this is how Obummer got the blackmail info on Judge Roberts to get him to support Obamacare.
the “new” program is requiring the carriers to maintain X log of meta data and provide the details upon request.
In other words, not an NSA server, but still avilable.
They probably just exchange the data they capture for all UK calls for the data the UK captures for all US calls. That way both governments can claim they don’t spy on their own citizens.
Freegards
sure. Right. lol
What NSA said doesn’t mean anything. The ability exists. It will be done.

I believe the NSA as much as I believe the FBI.
“Is the NSA sping on the telephone calls of Americans..?””
“No.”
That was a lie.
You know how Clapper rationalized it, just yesterday..?
“I didn’t understand the question.”
If anyone believes the .fedgov has stopped its comprehensive spying on all of us, that person is a fool.
Is the NSA sping on the telephone calls of Americans..?
No.
That was a lie.
You know how Clapper rationalized it, just yesterday..?
I didnt understand the question.
Here is a 4 min clip where Clapper advances his claim that he didn’t understand the question “Are you spying on Americans?”

Translation we couldn’t get Trump so we’ve discontinued the program
Cut the intelligence bureaucracy in half and use the saved money to create solutions to the problems they've found for years: cyber security, EMP protection, intellectual property protection, stopping Chinese spies from collecting University high-tech golden eggs.
DO SOMETHING THAT HELPS THE COUNTRY - NOT JUST YOUR DAMN INTELLIGENCE FIEFDOMS.
And tell thugs like Brennan, Clapper and Hayden to stop working against OUR duly elected President.
