Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Wednesday defended President Trump's assessment that the situation at the southern border constitutes a national emergency, telling lawmakers that an extended influx in migrants could "overwhelm" the immigration system. Nielsen testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security that illegal immigration "is spiraling out of control and threatening public safety and national security." Democrats pressed her on whether the situation genuinely required Trump's emergency declaration, which the House voted to overturn last week. "Although we may disagree on solutions, I hope there can be a consensus that the current system isnt working and that this is an emergency," Nielsen said in her opening statement.

PDJT can order them to mine the border and shoot invaders on sight.
It amazes me that the house voted
against the emergency, and now are
holding hearings questioning it.
This is just backwards.
