DEMOCRATS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE GETTING HOUNDED BY VOTERS FOR SHYING AWAY FROM THE GREEN NEW DEAL

“That resolution will not pass the Senate, and you can take that back to whoever sent you here,” Feinstein told a group of children from the Bay Area who spoke with her in her office. She added, “I’ve been in the Senate for a quarter of a century, and I know what can pass, and I know what can’t pass.” She was crafting an alternate resolution, she said, which has a “much better chance of passing.” That, of course, is not remotely true. A Senate controlled by McConnell is about as likely to pass a resolution written by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as one penned by Feinstein, even if Feinstein’s is much more moderate and does not push to turn the economy around in 12 years. The current debate is over what Democrats plan to implement if and when they take power — not what Trump will sign tomorrow.

“I am for the call to action,” Delgado told his constituents, listing off a number of priorities, including green jobs and ending fossil fuel subsidies, though he was less clear on what that would precisely look like. Rather, Delgado said that he was interested in policies that presented change in the short term — closing the door, at least for now, on the more long-term goals of the Green New Deal.

“It’s not what we want 15, 20, 30 years from now,” said Delgado. “What can we get done right now?”

Ocasio-Cortez said that politicians who aren’t proposing ambitious solutions are harming the effort. “If you think a carbon tax alone is going to fix climate change, you’re part of the problem,” she said. We basically need to propose a solution on the scale and of the magnitude of the problem. We have one shot. … To be very frank, people didn’t try. For 30 or 40 years, they wrung their hands and said it’s too complex. And now people are dying.”

Twelve years - startingggg now!

“And now people are dying.”

If people are dying doesn’t that reduce the population and eliminate more sources of carbon?

If you went to the typical working-class guy and said ‘we need to spend a thousand dollars of your money’....meaning it’s personally coming out of his bank account, the first response is ‘on what’.

You’d have to lay out this expense, and make it logical. The roof has a leak and we are going to do ‘A’ and ‘B’ to resolve the leak. So then you ask....is this the permanent fix or the temporary fix?

Then you’d ask about the rating for this roofer. Is it a Mexican no-name roofer doing this with no guarantee? Is this a local guy who has a reputation? Is this someone under the age of 21? Does the roofer even speak English?

At the end of this chat...then you will agree or disagree on the thousand dollar expense.

In this case, AOC is talking about 75-odd TRILLION (with the T) in expenses, and to be truthful....it would take thirty years of questions and answers for a working class guy to assess this...either accepting this or refusing it. Beyond the beltway...logical working class people just aren’t going to buy into this.

The Republicans should jump on board this plan and the first step should be a Bill Requiring All Members of CONgress exclusively use Non Carbon Emitting forms of Transportation in Perpetuity, with Serious Felony consequences for any violators.

But if they have their way in 12 years the US economy will look like Venezuela. Imagine a government run program to construct a high speed rail across the Atlantic to replace airplanes.

“And now people are dying.”

Three score and ten is the classical, biblical span. It can apparently be extended somewhat by heavy medical intervention, or shortened by deprivation, poor hygiene, or war.

People are always dying, and have been since time immemorial.

Dear Sandy,
People have been dying for as long as people have existed - usually after 75-85 years ...

Why do you say that?

I am surrounded by environmental nuts. One of their distinguishing features is that they support laws like "there will be clean water, and we will appoint regulators to give it to us".

They do not support, "there will be clean water, and to accomplish this, your toilet won't work anymore and you won't get clean in the shower".

As long as the "Green New Deal" remains free of details, I predict that it will be very popular.

Imagine a government run program to construct a high speed rail across the Atlantic to replace airplanes, and built
by Venezuelans.

True. But AOC and her buddies will be billionaires.

So the Unborn Baby Killer Party wants me to care about people dying?

Sorry, I find myself unmoved.

Perhaps Mother Earth decided she no longer wanted people.

Anybody think about how this rail system would stand up to hurricanes or normal storms with wave heights exceeding 10 feet or ocean depths in the thousands of feet.

How will they secure the base for this.

AOC will site oil rigs , forgetting those are not in deep water for the most part.
