Were all becoming more aware about the damage single-use plastics and fast fashion has on the environment. Yet there is one product we all throw away every single day that, so far, has not been a major part of conversations about sustainability: toilet paper.
But Americas heavy use of toilet paper particularly the pillowy soft kind is worsening climate change and taking a dramatic and irreversible toll on forests, especially the Canadian boreal forest...

Having spent most of 1981-1996 in Manhattan London West Africa and some in Zambia and South America and the less developed parts of the Caribbean..a lot in Haiti and Central America and a little in Burma and Thailand
I learned a number of infallible measurements about nations and culture
Civilization is determined by :
How well folks queue in waiting lines at airports and whatnot
How less personal and efficiently a nation kills its enemies ....think precise drone shots versus bludgeoning millions by hand
How easy it is to vote as a citizenry
How much women are valued ..and respected
How full grocery shelves are
Refrigeration
Medical care....a biggie
And most importantly
THE QUALITY OF THE TOLIET PAPER.
TELL ME IM LYING.
Ooops.....
Like trees don’t grow again from seeds anyways.
What did they think? The trees got all used up and nothing happened to replace them?
...not the crap 'Bonnie' buys when she goes shopping. (pulp fiction)
Regards,
AOC will let us use government-issue toilet paper, but we will have to use both sides.
So the Canadian tree farms are over-harvesting? Just have them buy more ground and plant more trees - problem solved.
the paper mills have been shutting down nationally for quite a while. There is hardly any newsprint, magazine print, or calendar print paper being made. Paper companies are selling off land.

Others, like International Paper, are booming - they make the cardboard used to pack products - one big customer: Amazon ...
Tried sand paper but it hurt. Tried fingers like most of the world but had to use too much soap and water.
Tried to use the NY Times and Wash. Post but my feces didn’t like them because they were more like competition to them than useful in disposing of them. (In other words, they were crappy, full of shit and useless too).
Whoever wrote this article is using the same scare tactics has used here in the Pacific NW with the spotted owl (we must save the trees to save the planet). It is junk science!!
Don’t forget the famed Marbled Murrelet claimed to nest on moss covered limb in old growth forest, who actually nests in the ground. Used the fable to unsuccessfully drive commercial salmon fishermen off the water in Washington State in the 90s.
Forests are like Corn, a renewable crop.
my butt, oh it is....guilty of wiping, muslims are more environmental friendly, they use their hand and wipe on anyone coming by..toilet paper on the go..
Amen!
I look at neighborhoods and if I see children out walking and biking, and young women jogging alone etc, I think how lucky those people are to live there.
In most of the world, children outside or women alone would be targetted by predators (solo and in gangs) immediately.
Try being a young woman and go jogging in a 3rd world city of the Afro-Hispanic variety.
We take Western Civ for granted....we should not.
Canadian paper mills that make newsprint are sucking pond water.
Newspaper circulations are in the tank and this has more impact on the industry...
What’s luxury tp? I get the Walmart cheap stuff that won’t ruin the septic system.
Think out of the bowl
Your picture suggests:why not washable toilet paper?
So perhaps if the leftist turd for brains leaders in California would not make it illegal to remove the one hundred and ten million dead trees lying on the ground in their communist managed forests they would not have to ship all those pulp trees down from Canada to wipe their asses.
As a nice side product they would not have whole cities of people burned alive like last summer.
Lol Pelosi and Waters and Hillary among others needing the incontinent supplies.
That’s right. There is plenty of evidence...just look at pictures of trash left on the border at illegal crossings.
Sand?? Stones?? Mussel shells?? Makes my bum hurt just to read that! LOL!!
