Film website Rotten Tomatoes announced this week that it would disable audience reviews for movies that have not been released.
The move is intended to crack down on what the site calls "non-constructive input, sometimes bordering on trolling, which we believe is a disservice to our general readership."
The move comes after the movie "Captain Marvel" starring Brie Larson was inundated with bad moviegoer reviews after being listed on Rotten Tomatoes before its March 8 scheduled release.
We are disabling the comment function prior to a movies release date, Rotten Tomatoes announced in a post on Monday.
We have decided that turning off this feature, for now, is the best course of action. Dont worry though, fans will still get to have their say: Once a movie is released, audiences can leave a user rating and comments as they always have.
"Captain Marvel" has received more than 8,000 user reviews of the film.
Yahoo reported that some of the comments have focused on the movie's lead being a woman.
As a white male i dont think Brie would want me watching this movie, user Nigel B wrote, according to Yahoo.
"Larson has made it clear men need not attend this movie, user Joseph U said.
Yahoo noted that such trolling on review sites has happened before with films like the all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot.
Words to live by there Flick!
Thanks...
Are they familiar with the Streisand Effect?
Your correct it hasn’t been released yet. The comments are being driven by SJW comments made by the starring actress within the past few weeks. Had she kept her yap shut most of the blowback wouldn’t have occurred.
In addition RT specifically polled to see who was interested in seeing it. So there are comments in that regard as well.
They’re voicing an opinion of something they haven’t seen. The movie’s not been released.
Oh, never mind. I didn’t know it was a “poll” until I read the thread.
OK that's just a really really good dis. No deductions. 10.0

How queer they don’t have the quote where she says this movie isn’t made for white males, they should skip it, it’s for minorities and women.
Thanks for clarifying
They will give a review that is all positive from now on as long as they are paid off by the studio.
>>Black Panther proved they can make a ton of money and still be ignored. Nobody who has ever seen a movie in their life thought it actually deserved a Best Picture nomination.
A Batman movie is “rated” on IMDB as the third best movie OF ALL TIME.
Ratings are crap. Populist opinion can be faked.
Got a t. Thanks
Thanks for clarifying
>>Really hard to comment on a movie before its release
There are sneak preview screenings. Especially for fanboy films. packed houses.
Got it
Rotten Tomatoes is just a shill company owned by Comcast and Warner Brothers. Rotten Tomatoes is ROTTEN TO THE CORE!
Their "reviews" and "ratings" are UTTERLY WORTHLESS.
I used to faithfully check out RT, but no more. They don't care a wit about the movie going public's interests or views. All RT cares about is selling movie tickets and taking our money while they tell us to "shut up and sit down".
Its the last part of the hats key
>>Commenting about a movie you havent seen yet is called lying, something were supposed to be against.
The Oscars don’t require voters to actually SEE the movies they are voting for/against.
Kind of like a chili cookoff where you looked at photos of the teams and didn’t actually eat any chili.
Well, she has a point.

Sony was busted once upon a time putting their own reviews/reviewers in the “pull quotes” put on their newspaper ads.
