To improve upon HoloLens immersion, Microsoft purportedly doubled HoloLens' field of view while maintaining a holographic density of 47 pixels per degree of sight. It features a new display system that achieves this at low power, and includes a new time-of-flight depth sensor for direct manipulation of holograms. On top of this, HoloLens 2 features eye-tracking sensors and iris recognition for security.
The devices comfort has reportedly been improved by featuring a more balanced center of gravity, utilizing a light carbon-fiber material and a new mechanism that allows users to equip the device without having to readjust it. Vapor chamber technology helps to improve the devices thermal management while the dial-in fit system makes it more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, even for users wearing glasses.
Lastly, Microsoft focused on time-to-value enhancements, aiming to make the device as economically viable to purchasers as quickly as possible. This is done by Microsoft featuring applications like Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, Layout and Guides. These applications, in conjunction with Microsofts Azure cloud services, intend to make the admittedly costly device more approachable in various professional fields.

What the heck’s a Homo lens?
Oh wait... :)
Tech Ping!...................
That’s what the MSM used on the Smollett attack..............
ROFL!
I dunno about you guys, but if I got an extra $3,500 laying around, I have better uses that some gaming gear I’ll likely rage-break when I get sniped.
Expect porn producers to be early adopters of this technology.
$3,500 would buy a lot of prepper food / reloading supplies / water filtration / etc
That crowd innovated a lot of things.
Sucks that they arent aiming at the consumer market.
Just makes the thing an expensive toy that even most companies arent going to waste money on.
Mining with remote controlled equipment is becoming the norm very quickly.
Play stupid games, get your iris scanned and saved.
Another biometric for the government database...
Microsoft employees slam $480M HoloLens military contract, refuse to create tech for 'warfare and
There are a LOT of possible military uses.
You can increase situational awareness for tank (and other vehicle) drivers and commanders by putting high resolution cameras all around the vehicle, and people being able to see what's happening outside while staying under cover. You can use it for drone pilots. You can send robots into hostile environments and see what the robot sees in a more-natural interface.
I’m for bots and remote control units to do the hazardous stuff wherever possible.
RC, AI (in some form), and bots are going to be the core builders of any permanent station on the moon or elsewhere.
You can use it for drone pilots.
I’m a private pilot and long-time flight sim player. The most annoying aspect of any flight sim is the limited view, and inability to quickly scan between the instruments and things outside the cockpit.
Had an opportunity to play Sony’s VR Ace Combat 7 last week. Basically you have a VR headset that tracks your head position.
Completely effortless to scan inside the plane and out.
Much more realistic than anything else I’ve ever tried, FBO-based FAA-approved sim trainers included.
F&G ping
lol
AMEX!
She even LOOKS stupid.
I have an Oculus Gear and I love it (even if it still has a tiny blur problem).
I have “visited” the ISS, Ancient Ruins, London on at New Years, flown in jet fighters, driven in race cars — the number and scope of experiences is unbelievable. I also have recorded my own VR memories and it is almost like being there again.
Once they perfect it, VR will be the only way to go.
Once you have experienced it, you will never go back to just pictures or 2D videos again.
