NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Andraya Yearwood hears the comments, usually from adults and usually not to her face.

Yearwood, a 17-year-old junior at Cromwell High School, is one of two transgender high school sprinters in Connecticut, transitioning to female.

Mental illness is one of the most tragic and heartbreaking things a human being can experience. Telling the afflicted to roll with it and mutilate their bodies only compounds the suffering. It’s almost as evil as killing babies because they’re not wanted or convenient.
Gee, whiz, what a surprise.
