>> I’m liking ST Discovery <<

From the plot summaries I've read of season 2 thus far, they're only 6 episodes in and they already:

- Made Spock into a unstable mass murdering psychopath who escaped a mental institution (while he was serving under Captain Pike as Science Office, mind you)

- retconned the super secret underground Section 31 organization as something that "every Starfleet officer" casually knows all about, and

- promptly brought back the "dead" gay boyfriend character (who exists on the show for the SOLE purpose of "being gay" and making out with the gay cast member) with the space fantasy concept that when Culber's neck was snapped, his "energy" got transferred to the fungus zone and now they've brought him back to "our reality" with a brand new physical body, and somehow his memories are totally intact.

How anyone can "like" that is beyond me. The more I read about this show, the more I'm GLAD I'm stopped watching halfway thru season 1.

Jiminy Tap-Dancing Christmas. That’s bad soap opera, not Star Trek.

How much Discovery have you seen? Just the pilot?

I’m pirating season 2 now. SPOILER ALERT

I’m through the ep where Wilson Cruz comes back to life.

Some thoughts.

They should call this “The Search for Spock”, they faked out on him appearing twice already. Honestly I have little interest in revisiting Spock. Especially not in this bizarre plotline they got going on. They are fetishizing Spock. It’s neat seeing more of his parents though.

“Michael” said she said something horrible to him to get him to stay away from her cause she was afraid the “logic extremists” who tried to kill her (for being a human at a Vulcan school) would harm him. So no she didn’t screw him. There’s a shot of an upcoming ep of her smooching a bearded guy but it’s that Klingon transhuman bastard Voq.

I don’t like “Michael” very much, many are in the same boat, that’s obviously a major problem with the show. I liked Yeoh’s original character, she was no where near Genivere Bujold to me. The evil version is a treat.

I don’t know what to make of Anson Mount as Capn Pike, a character that could use a closer look. Enterprise being busted and out of commission for an extended period is a pretty flimsy reason to have him onboard. At first he was in Uni reminiscent of TOS. So we’re in a “Star Trek Generations” style thing with multiple unis in service at the same time, weird.

Do the writers want the audience to hate the “prime directive”? Seriously, eff the prime directive.

I thought the “Magic Mushroom” stuff couldn’t get dumber. I was wrong. The recent stuff with the mushroom universe was interesting enough but absurd. I need to come up with a corollary to “Clarke’s first law”.

Wilson Cruz was actually the ship’s doctor so he does not exist solely as Rapp’s BF (contrast the gay aliens husband on The Orville who doesn’t appear to have a job). To my surprise I didn’t mind the character, I like him better than Rapp that’s for sure.

I like Section 31, the Federation pansies need them.

The Chubby girl Tilly has been called “Wesley done right” and I agree with that assessment.
