Another clueless reporter is *shocked* that the Jussie Smollett story turned out to be a hoax:.....
If there was a "national outrage" over the dubious incident, it was limited to gullible left-wing journalists, celebrities, politicians, and activists. The "narrative" only seemed "cut-and-dry" to people who were looking at the case through lenses clouded by their anti-Trump bias. It seemed made up to those of us who noticed that Smollett's allegations were outlandish, implausible, and riddled with inconsistencies from the get-go.
Yet even as his story started falling apart (which happened almost immediately), the national media clung to their precious narrative.
There's been much commentary in the past few days about the MSM's lack of critical thinking skills in covering not only the Jussie Smollett "hate crime" fairy tale, but a number of other bogus stories as well.

“They’re Stupid” for $200, Alex.
The title question is naive. They are promoting the lie, knowing there are millions who want to believe the lie.
Fake, fake, fake news reported even when the MSM knew for sure it was fake.
The easy answer is Bias.
The deeper answer is the need to be first.
The bias is obvious to everyone except those who buy into the bias and want to pretend it’s not bias so they can’t receive validation for their own biases.
The need to be first, particularly for any story that is sure to be ‘explosive’ creates a frenzy in the media to try to grab as much of an audience share as possible.
So it’s not just about controlling the narrative, which is valid, but even more about the hustle for eyes and clicks
Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda—that’s why.
It’s wishful thinking. That’s how they want America to really be. And they want to be the Crusaders For Justice ending it.
Why? Because they are liberal, and they want to believe these events happen. Such events are part of their prejudiced worldview, so they accept them without question.
They don’t dig into details, or question things. It never occurred to the media to ask, what are the odds that two guys with rope and bleach are out on a bitter cold night , on the off chance they encounter an actor they don’t like, so they can attack him.
Falling for them?
Is that the new term for “Willing co-conspirators”?
They are promoting a narrative that the right is violent, even though they have to invent it.
FReepers instantly recognized it as a hoax. Leftists might ask themselves why we knew and they did not.
They’re not ‘falling’ for them, they’re knee deep in them.
Because they WANT to. They’re desperate to believe their own bullsh*t and need something to validate it. Reality goes against their warped vision of the world.
Because they *want* to believe them.
They could care less if it’s true or not. It’s the content they care about. If a liberal is involved in a scandal, it’s mostly ignored. If it’s a conservative, it doesn’t matter if it looks obviously fake, it serves the purpose. Their ideological agenda overides any sense of professional responsibility.
Because they desperately WANT to believe.
Oh wait, that “Want to believe” answer doesn’t explain the Alexandria Cortez thing;
I guess I’m going to have to go with “Stupid” as the simplest explanation.

I think they’re on the take.
Not misled. Not fooled.
They only ever take the side against President Trump and those that voted for him.
They are fully aware of what they are doing and it is all only to get rid of the current President.
Because they want people to believe the white MAGA hatted oppressor lie. They all LOUDLY promoted the Smollett hoax and quietly recanted, if at all. They want division in America.
Speaking of which - it's gonna be a while before the Washington Post knee-jerk stands with every Chief Ten Teeth in the country over 15 year old kids waiting for a bus to take them home.
