Julie Stackhouses goal last Sunday was to win the Donna Half Marathon, a popular race that weaves through the coastal communities of Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach east of Jacksonville, Florida.
Stackhouse, a Jacksonville local, had good reason to think she could break the tapeshes won the race twice in past years, and has notched victories in the marathon and relay, too.
But even before she came face-to-face with an aggressive dog, Stackhouse knew she wasnt going to win. She estimates her canine encounter slowed her down only around 45 seconds in total, but her impressive finishing time of 1:25:54enough to earn fourth placewas more than three minutes slower than the races winner.

Stackhouse was cruising along at around a 6:30 pace with about a mile to go in the race when the bull-terrier mix came at her. She heard the dog at the same time she saw it coming from her right.
About 80 pounds, it was aggressive, snarling, barking, growling. It was coming to attack, I knew right away, Stackhouse told Runners World. I instantly shifted from mile-to-go race mode to fight or flight. I needed to avoid it as best as possible.
The dog, which Stackhouse said was unleashed, bumped her legs hard, causing her to stumble. But she popped right back up as the dog came at her from the left. When it tried to bite at her face, she moved her left arm up to protect herself, and the dogs jaws latched on. It was then that the people who Stackhouse thinks were the dogs ownersthough she never got a good look at them in the chaospinned the terrier down and allowed her to sprint away.

That is the point of owning a well scoped, silenced and sub sonic 300 blackout.
You’re sick
You just smoked out two of them it looks like.
Shoot the owners. Then put the dog down.
Thank you for providing such great evidence to support Mr. 65's point.
There are, however, legitimate reasons to own a pit bull. Guarding a crack house, for example.
our druggie neighbors have a pit. She’s a sweet dog- i know because she runs loose.
we rescued a beautiful dog that was mean to everyone but me. NOT a pit, so you never can tell.
PS not a pitbull fan in general. I just keep away, and if your dog comes on my property, i call animal control.
Ive posted several stories about dogs in the last couple of years. I was sad to read this story about an unrestrained dog watching a half marathon. Some of you may know that Celeste (a Belgian Malinois K9) runs with me daily. Despite her being restrained off leash by vocal commands and hand signals, She has been trained in bitework, and sensitized to gunfire up to .50 caliber. I would never take her to spectate with me without a leash - there is too much stimulation which could cause her to respond too quickly. Yesterday we were walking off leash and came upon a man with his lab on a leash going the opposite direction. I saw it develop while still 40 yards apart. I called Celeste to me, moved off the path, and I put her in a sit. She showed remarkable restraint. After the man and lab passed, he shouted to me that I did a good job. I told him that was a tribute to Celeste, not me. Anyway, this article reinforces my belief to not expose Celeste to too much stimulation that she forgets her manners and training.

Supposedly only 5% of dog owners bother to train their animal. Even just the basic come/sit/no stuff. Pretty bizarre when you think about the billions spent in the pet industry. Trained dogs are generally happy dogs and fun to be around, untrained dogs are generally miserable and miserable to be around.
Freegards
“You cant sue trash that doesnt have any money so what to do?”
It’s called - ‘uninsured motorist insurance’ I think ??
Nice. Thanks for validating the screed from the left.
Hypocrites. Don’t understand, do you? That’s what happens when emotions block rational thought. I am not the sick one here; I simply called out the idiocy.
Let me put in terms you simpletons understand since Mr. stinkerbait went ad hominem in one wild fusillade due to his inability to control his emotions...
Here is what you’re validating with that sick, hypocritical language:
“Every gun owner is a violent criminal.”
I’m not replying to any more idiocy from this thread; it’s no wonder I sit with my back to a wall in a room full of democrats and republicans alike...
And yes, a Pit is among the breeds of consideration when I am able to once again consider rescuing a dog, that statement made solely for the purpose of the effect it intended.
Indeed time to call bounty hunters 1-800-dog-begone.
They don’t even make good flea tick and lice transporters.
LOL. Your screed only deserves derision.
Perfect justice to someone with no means who demands equal rights without equal responsibility.
Sounds like gibsmedat logic.
