A thought popped into Stephen Bonsers head midway through Valentines Day.
If I went to Outback Steakhouse by myself tonight and asked for a table for 2, then got progressively sadder as the night went on alone, do you think theyd give me my steak for free? the 27-year-old, who works in technology sales and lives in Washington, asked his hundreds of Twitter followers.
His sister egged him on, telling him that she would pay for his meal on Thursday if the restaurant didnt. Three hours later, Bonser was waiting by the host stand at the Outback Steakhouse in Arlington, dressed in a fresh blazer and button-down shirt and carrying a poorly wrapped present.
I figured that Im getting a free steak either way, he told The Washington Post later that night. It would be fiscally irresponsible not to do it.

Or they had a GI haircut and a wife and kids and I wanted to say thanks. Never stuck around to hear a welcome nor went to the local paper.
Something tells me he is either the only Son, or is the Baby of The Family. He’s used to somebody trying to read his pout and come flying to his rescue.
“Are we havin’ a bad day? What’s the matter?”.
Tangentially reminds me of a Frasier episode, where he’s had a bad day on Christmas Eve and winds up in a diner where he’s forgotten his wallet and all the patrons buy his food, and then he leaves and has to slink back in for his ultra-premium car keys.
The last time I did this was for a couple where the man was an E-5 in uniform and had just returned from Afghanistan. The waitress brought them a bill that just said "Thank you for your service", after I quietly paid. The difference between that couple and this loser is the soldier earned his meal.
He really made his mamma proud . . .NOT!
On the other hand follow him home and see what’s behind the door . . .might be the answer for why he is like he is.
Yep. To assuage his guilt over having fooled someone into giving him a free meal was to donate to the ACLU.
Exactly what happens with every homeless beggar, even the non-homeless ones. Exactly what happens with every family of illegals when they want to put their kids in our schools, or come take food from our donation centers and pantries.
Me, too. It was probably a conservative couple who paid for his meal.. and the worm gives $50 bucks to the Dispicable ACLU. Not a feel-good story!
What an effing bum. And he’s in Sales asking companies to pay him for whatever goods or services he purports to peddle?
Last time I did, it was for a really elderly couple that looked like they were out on date night. Just cute, the two of them all dressed up, had to be in their late 80's/early 90's. I left before they did, but I hope it made their day.
Yep. Me too. Scum.
Alinsky was so proud, and bragged for years about defrauding cafeterias when he was in college. What a douchebag.
Not even a thought of consideration for the person running the cafeteria having money stolen from him.
If I had seen this guy, I would ask myself, why didn’t he pick up his Valentine’s Day date and drive with her to the restaurant for this special occasion? Maybe the 20-something men don’t do such things anymore.
The more I read it, the madder I got.
And the Washington Post-THE WASHINGTON POST-spent time and resources on this despicable turd and his activities.
It tells you as much about the Washington Post as it does about this stain of a human being.
As Lee Martell said, I would expect this out of a sixteen year old who was raised poorly, and had a chance to turn it around if given a talking to. A 27 year old adult who does this deserves to have his sorry ass kicked.
Just like all the regressives (not liberal, not truly progressive) I know.
I’ve done that on more than a few occasions with military personnel, and it is a personally rewarding thing to do. Like you, I make sure they don’t know who it is coming from.
On a related note, my wife and I were having an anniversary dinner one night, and someone paid for our meal...they must have seen how in love we still were...:)
That was a nice feeling! Random act of generosity...:)
My wife and I are in a love triangle, us and food ;)
How can they be proud of THAT? What the hell is wrong with them?
Hahahahahaha, me too...me too!
